Alisson Becker: The Best Goalkeeper In Europe

Alisson Becker

Alisson Becker is arguably the signing of the season. Bought from Roma for €62.5 million, the Brazilian quickly adapted to life in the Premier League. His great performances positively impacted Liverpool. The 26-year-old is currently the best goalkeeper in Europe’s top five leagues. Stats prove that Alisson is the greatest in the first half of the 2018/19 season.

Alisson Becker: The Best Goalkeeper in Europe

Alisson Becker has conceded only eight goals in 20 Premier League games. Additionally, he recorded 12 league clean sheets, including one against the deadly attack of Manchester City. His stats are better than any goalkeeper in the top five leagues across Europe. The former Roma man’s influence on the pitch plays a crucial factor. He has a great relationship with the whole team, he leads them and makes great saves when he is needed.

Liverpool did a great job of securing the signing of Alisson. Last season, 20 goals were conceded in their first 20 Premier League games. In their first four games in the 2017/18 campaign, eight goals were conceded. This season, they have only conceded eight goals in 20 games.

The Liverpool management not only bought a world-class goalkeeper but also refreshed the defence. These improvements built a team that is able to win the league. The Reds went from having one of the worst and most error-prone defences in the league to having the best in Europe.

Liverpool will take on Manchester City on Thursday, a great test for Alisson and the defence. The reigning champions are at home for the fixture, it will be difficult to control their attack. The Kop have the most complete team in the league. They have a world-class goalkeeper, Alisson, to guide them to a victory at the Etihad Stadium in a few days time, and a win could give them an important gap at the top of the table.
