Latest on Nathan Ake, McTominay, Tonali and Heaton

United Interested in Ake

Manchester United’s search for a new defender has now reached Bournemouth. Their former Chelsea man is reportedly interesting Jose Mourinho. The self-proclaimed Special One has made no secret of his desire to bring in new defensive recruits. Tottenham are also monitoring the situation.

Ake signed for Bournemouth last summer and has excelled on the south coast. However, a major stumbling block for United, Spurs and anyone else who could be interested is the £40 million buy-back clause that Chelsea had inserted into the original deal.

McTominay to Leave?

United’s Scotland international, Scott McTominay, could be set to leave Old Trafford in January. United are reportedly open to allowing the midfielder leave on loan. The 21-year-old has seen his chances limited this season, featuring just twice so far. Therefore, a spell in the Championship could be beneficial.

Recent reports suggest that both Leeds United and Aston Villa are currently interested in taking the youngster on loan. Both are hoping to be challenging for promotion and believe the midfielder could help their cause. Primarily a midfielder, McTominay has also featured in central defence. A move by Mourinho which was seen by some as the manager making a point that he did not get the defender he wanted during the summer.

Italian Wonder-Kid Wanted by Chelsea

Italy U19 international Sandro Tonali is reportedly being closely watched by Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri. The 18-year-old is highly thought of in his country and is already being compared to Andrea Pirlo. Even at this early stage in his career, he is attracting interest from not just Chelsea. Juventus, Roma and Arsenal are among the others interested.

Reports in Italy suggest that Sarri has already had his scouts watch the Breccia wonder-kid, the most recent game being in a 4-1 victory where Tonali collected two assists. The midfielder also starred in the U19 European Championships, leading Italy to the final where they lost 4-3 to Portugal.

Heaton to Leave Turf Moor?

England international goalkeeper Tom Heaton has admitted he may have to leave Burnley in January. Heaton suffered a long-term injury, allowing Nick Pope to take his place last season. Pope performed so well he was called up to the England squad. As Heaton was getting back to full fitness, Pope himself got injured. However, instead of Heaton getting back to first team action, Burnley boss Sean Dyche bought Joe Hart and he has featured ever since.

Heaton is obviously frustrated at the lack of playing time and could be tempted to leave either on loan or permanently in January. The keeper has expressed his desire to return to being a number one and regain his place in the England squad. Clubs in both the Premier League and the Championship will be keen to sign the shot-stopper. West Ham are the current favourites.
