If there’s a player who can score every match day, it’s Lionel Messi.

How Many Goals Will Lionel Messi Score This Season?

But everyone knows that nobody doubts about the five-time Ballon d’Or winner. However, it remains to be seen if the Argentinean can reach the 30 goals in La Liga one more time. Messi, 31, was Europe’s top goalscorer last season with 45 goals; though, FIFA did not include him in the three finalists for the 2017-18 Best Player.

In Spain’s domestic league, Messi has an advantage: Cristiano Ronaldo is no longer with Real Madrid, so that means the Barcelona striker easily win the Pichichi as La Liga top scorer. Messi has 10 straight seasons scoring at least 20 goals and it seems nothing will stop him to do the same this season.

Superb Pace

La Pulga has scored eight goals in his last seven games at club level, including last season matches, where Messi earned the Pichichi award as La Liga goalscorer with 34 goals.

This season the Argentinean is looking for redemption as Barcelona has been knocked out in the UEFA Champions League Quarterfinals for three straight years. So that means Messi will be more threatening for other teams than the years previous.

Messi does not play as aggressively as he used to; instead, he accelerates when is due, creates chances for others but more importantly, he’s always there to score.

2018/19 goalscoring prediction

Messi has become a better player throughout the years, and this season he’s about to prove why he deserves to be the greatest player ever.

The Barcelona forward has taken his free-kick taking ability to another level; in fact, seven of Messi’s 34 goals last season came from a direct free kick, which is his career best in a single season.

Well, the Argentinean started this season scoring his first goal from a free kick in the 3-0 win against Alaves.

Messi began last season scoring nine goals in the first five games, if he has such explosive start this season, he will surely reach the 35-40 goals rate in La Liga.
