Young Liverpool Striker Rhian Brewster Nears Celtic move

As revealed by The Herald, Liverpool and England youngster Rhian Brewster could be moving north of the border to join Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic on loan from the Merseyside club.

Rhian Brewster Nears Celtic move

The 18-year-old striker, who made a name for himself at the Under-17 World Cup last year, is on the verge of joining up with Rodgers at Celtic, the same manager who was in charge when the young sensation first joined Liverpool in 2015.

Brewster picked up the Golden Boot award in that competition after two hat-tricks, against USA and Brazil respectively. He also netted in the final against Spain as the young lions won 5-2 to lift the trophy.

His strike rate at youth level leaves no doubt in his quality as he featured alongside the likes of Manchester City’s Phil Foden, who looks at home with the Premier League giants.

With the Celtic manager a clear suitor, it seems the Scottish Champions, who wrapped up their seventh consecutive league title at the weekend, could be set to bolster their attacking options even further with a loan deal for the Englishman.

Can Brewster Fit in at Celtic?

With the future of Moussa Dembele uncertain, it would be a wise move from the club to secure another striker. The Frenchman was subject to a lot of interest in January and could yet seal a big money move in the summer. His fellow compatriot Odsonne Edouard is currently only on loan at the Hoops from PSG. Celtic will certainly be keen to sign the 20-year-old permanently. However, despite an Old Firm double in Celtic’s 5-0 victory at the weekend, it remains to be seen whether he will be at the club next season.

This uncertainty makes a deal for Brewster look very likely to provide support and competition to Celtic’s other hitman Leigh Griffiths.

As reports suggest, the two clubs are at an advanced stage in negotiations and if a deal is struck it will surely benefit both clubs. The youngster will be given game-time in Scotland and will certainly be an exciting addition to the squad.
