Monday did not disappoint in MLB! The Los Angeles Dodgers and Milwaukee Brewers scored 13 and 12 runs, respectively, and Pete Alonso smacked a pair of home runs going 380 and 423 feet. The Cincinnati Reds got back to winning ways vs. the Miami Marlins and the Los Angeles Angels continued their freefall out of the playoff picture.
We went 1-1-1 yesterday, going +0.4u overall. With the rainout, the two picks split with Spencer Strider getting bounced early by the Pittsburgh Pirates, not able to go three innings, and giving up six earned runs with only three strikeouts. Marlins’ slugger Jorge Soler gave us a profitable night by taking a Brandon Williamson fastball 373 feet for a home run, cashing our +1.5 TB bet.

MLB Betting Picks Of The Day, August 8th
CHICAGO CUBS VS. NEW YORK METS: CUBS TT o4.5 (-135)
The Chicago Cubs have been one of the best teams in baseball since the trade deadline and are now just one game from the final NL Wild Card spot. They rank in the top 10 in both batting average and runs per game in the ML.
The New York Mets are sending out Carlos Carrasco who has not been at his best this season. His past four starts have seen him give up a total of 21 earned runs and currently has a 6.60 ERA with a 3-6 record.
There are Cubs hitters up and down the lineup with career success against Carrasco, too. Jeimer Candelario and Yan Gomes have both hit .400 against Carrasco in their lifetime. Seiya Suzuki (.400), Cody Bellinger (.333), and Ian Happ (.273) have all had success and look to continue it tonight.
Let’s play 3u on the Cubs TT o4.5 and could also play Carlos Carrasco o2.5 earned runs at -160.
MIAMI MARLINS VS. CINCINNATI REDS: NICK SENZEL o0.5h (-270)
Ever since his promotion to the show in 2017, Nick Senzel has always been able to hit against left-handed pitching. For his career, he hits .270 against a left-handed pitcher and is hitting .223 against a right-hander. Senzel went 1-3 against Braxton Garrett earlier this season and he had a walk and a double in their only meeting last season.
For Braxton Garrett, it has been a season to forget. His 4.14 ERA is almost a full run more than last year and has been 0-1 with a 6.27 ERA since the All-Star break. Garrett’s cutter is a pitch he relies on a lot and has a 20.5% put-away percentage and 27% whiff rate. Senzel has been hitting the cutter successfully with a .311 and .400 xBA and xSLG, respectively.
For this pick, 2u on the over for Senzel hits (o0.5, -270) and could play the TB prop of o1.5 for +125.
TEXAS RANGERS VS. OAKLAND A’S: MAX SCHERZER o7.5KS (-115)
Max Scherzer had to throw over 30 pitches in his first inning as a Texas Ranger but settled down to go six innings with nine strikeouts against the Chicago White Sox on Aug. 3rd. He hasn’t been as dominant this season as in seasons past, but his 130:32 KK:BB ratio is stellar and Scherzer averages 12 strikeouts per nine innings for his career at the Oakland Coliseum.
The Oakland A’s have struck out 1,037 times this season, good for 7th in the ML. The A’s have only had one game in their last 11 with under seven strikeouts. They rank last in BA, SLG, and 26th in OBP.
Scherzer’s strikeout props have gone over five out of the last ten and 48% for his career. Back the future HOFer with 1u.
