In the main event of this week’s NXT, new champions were crowned. The NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions, Shotzi Blackheart and Ember Moon, defended their titles against The Way‘s Candice LeRae and Indi Hartwell. Heading into this Street Fight, it was apparent that Hartwell’s mind wasn’t entirely focused on the match. To say that her budding relationship with Dexter Lumis has been complicated would be putting it mildly, especially with forces such as LeRae seemingly impeding said relationship at each turn. Viewers had to wonder if the challengers would stand a chance in this main event. By the end, it was Candice LeRae and Indi Hartwell standing tall with the NXT Women’s Tag Team Championship.
As has been the case with Street Fights in the past, both teams didn’t hold back in terms of sheer violence. With the utilization of ladders, fire extinguishers, and other such foreign objects, nothing was off limits. Furthermore, this match saw all four competitors push their bodies to their absolute limit. This was especially true for Blackheart, who executed multiple high-risk maneuvers, showing just how driven the champions were to hold onto the gold. The end of the match saw Hartwell put Moon through a table with a springboard body press before LeRae executed the Wicked Stepsister to secure the NXT Women’s Tag Team Championship.

With this victory, Candice LeRae and Indi Hartwell have won gold for the first time in World Wrestling Entertainment. It may surprise fans to know that LeRae hasn’t won a WWE title before this point, as she signed with the company in 2018. She has been involved in the NXT Women’s Championship picture multiple times, though she failed to win singles gold. It would be fitting that LeRae’s first title in WWE is a tag team accolade. Throughout her independent career, she established herself as a strong tag team wrestler, winning gold in tandems in Fighting Spirit Pro Wrestling and Pro Wrestling Guerrilla, among other few organizations.
Meanwhile, Indi Hartwell’s NXT Women’s Tag Team Title victory marks not only her first WWE title but first tag team accolade. From Newcastle Pro Wrestling to World Series Wrestling, she has held a series of singles championships since beginning her career in 2016. Additionally, now that she is an NXT Women’s Tag Team Champion, Hartwell has established herself as one of the top women’s stars on NXT. Who will step up to the new champions?
