Earlier today, on the official WWE Twitter account, WWE Official Adam Pearce held a Twitter Space to make a special announcement. This was in regard to next week’s edition of Friday Night SmackDown, the go-home show for WrestleMania 37. During the Twitter Space briefing, Pierce confirmed that the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal match would make its return on the aforementioned episode of SmackDown, which would be a “special WrestleMania edition.” He also announced the list of participants set for the match. The confirmed names for the 2021 Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal are as follows:

It’s important to note that, unlike Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal matches of the past, this won’t take place at WrestleMania. Instead, it will unfold on the episode of SmackDown the night prior. Pearce also announced that, in addition to this match, a fatal four-way match for the SmackDown Tag Team Championship would take place. Furthermore, viewers would hear from Daniel Bryan, Edge, and Universal Champion Roman Reigns leading up to their WrestleMania 37 triple threat match. However, it was the announcement of the 2021 Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal that was the major takeaway.
Introduced in March 2014, the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal honors the legacy of the wrestler the match was named after. The winner would receive the Andre the Giant Memorial Trophy featuring the legend’s likeness. The first match took place at WrestleMania XXX, which saw Cesaro come out on top. In the years that followed, winners included Corbin, Big Show, Mojo Rawley, Matt Hardy, and Braun Strowman. The only year the match was absent, since its inception, was WrestleMania 36 in 2020.
