Meanwhile, the Japan bracket semifinals will continue with two spectacular matches that fans do not want to miss. As we inch closer to AEW Revolution, the big picture is slowly unveiling itself on who will challenge Hikaru Shida for her AEW Women’s World Championship. Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D. has been on quite a high since she defeated Thunder Rosa at Beach Break and her social media followers could definitely attest to that. Anna Jay, meanwhile, is on a three-match winning streak to kick off the year. Something’s got to give. Will The Dark Order member score herself an upset or will Baker catch her off guard with the Lockjaw and secure herself a spot in the semifinals of the AEW Women’s Eliminator Tournament USA bracket?

Tay Conti vs. Nyla Rose
“The Native Beast” will be a tough out as she will scratch and claw for a shot at the AEW Women’s World Championship. Meanwhile, one-half of TayJay, Tay Conti, will surely put up a fight in a quintessential David vs. Goliath matchup. Rose will be angrier and more vicious than ever since the stakes have never been higher. Conti will indeed be riding a wave of momentum against Rose; the former is fresh off a spectacular match against NWA Women’s Champion Serena Deeb. Will the Judo Badass slay the beast or will Rose overpower the martial artist in a devastating and convincing fashion?

In the semi-final of the Japanese bracket, the high flying energy of Yuka Sakazaki will meet the relentless experience of Emi Sakura. Sakura showed a whole new side to herself in her win over Veny in round one. Sakura was great against Veny rolling back the clock and delivering a number of her most effective moves. After Sakazaki knocked out her student Mei Suruga in round one Sakura will be looking to send the Tokyo Joshi Pro Wrestling star packing.

A clash of titans in this Japan block semi-final could contain the inevitable tournament winner. These two women first wrestled all the way back in 2004 in GAEA Japan and have since met in Sendai Girls, World Woman Pro-Wrestling Diana, and Pro Wrestling WAVE in singles action. Mizunami has never beaten Kong in a singles match and has only won a handful of tag team matches against the Joshi legend. Kong showed her skills when she handily defeated Rin Kadokura in round 1 and Mizunami will have to be at her best to upset Kong. But, we think the time is now for Ryo Mizunami to get her big win over Kong. As mentioned last week, Kong has only lost three singles matches in the past three years but Mizunami seems earmarked for stardom in AEW and a win over the Joshi legend would solidify her as the real deal.
