Anna Jay Injured & Out of AEW Women’s Eliminator Tournament

Eagle-eyed AEW fans noticed Anna Jay was replaced in the most recent thumbnail for the most recent AEW Women’s World Championship Eliminator Tournament show on YouTube.  It has since been announced by AEW that Jay suffered a shoulder injury during training and will likely miss 6-12 months.

Jay’s replacement in the US side of the tournament is Madi Wrenkowski.  A real newcomer to the world of wrestling, Wrenkowski has been prolific for Mission Pro Wrestling since it became an all-women’s promotion months ago and has also competed in AEW three times.  She has lost each time to Leyla HirschLeva Bates, and Red Velvet respectively.

This is yet another unfortunate incident in the AEW women’s division which has been plagued with bad luck since the beginning.  COVID-19 took away stars like Riho, while an injury bug took out Britt Baker and Kris Statlander.  Now, on the eve of their big women’s tournament, one of their brightest prospects and member of the fan-favorite Dark Order, has been hit with a long term injury.  We hope Anna Jay can have a speedy recovery and get right back to action as she was doing some fun work alongside Taynara Conti.
