On episode seven of UWN Primetime Live, Thunder Rosa defended the NWA World Women’s Championship against Serena Deeb. This was a rematch from their non-title AEW Dynamite encounter, which took place this past September. Despite a spirited effort, Deeb was unable to best Rosa. However, on this night, the stakes were raised. This event also marked the United Wrestling Network debut of Deeb. With the pressure of a major title match on her back, she became the new NWA World Women’s Champion.
This title match came to a surprising end when Deeb rolled up Rosa for the three-count. Up until this point, the champion was nothing short of dominant. Following the match, a moment of sportsmanship was shared when the two combatants shook hands. From there, Deeb took the mic, making the claim that she would rewrite history. The women’s wrestling scene, in UWN and elsewhere, has just been put on notice.

The NWA World Women’s Championship is just the latest in a series of accolades for Serena Deeb. Having begun her professional wrestling career in the early 2000s, Deeb held gold in multiple organizations. As she was coming up in the business, Deeb became a six-time Women’s Champion for Ohio Valley Wrestling. She competed for the championship between 2006 and 2008. She also saw success in Florida Championship Wrestling, becoming the second-ever Queen of FCW Champion.
Most wrestling fans will remember Deeb during her time in WWE, where she portrayed one of the members of the Straight Edge Society, led by CM Punk. However, by the summer of 2010, she was released from the company. She made her way back to the independent circuit, though she did appear one last time on WWE programming during the inaugural Mae Young Classic. She made it to the second round, where she lost to Piper Niven. The following year, Deeb became a coach at the WWE Performance Center. This past April, along with several other WWE employees, Deeb was released amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.

Recently, Serena Deeb has been building her name in All Elite Wrestling. She debuted for the company this past September on Dynamite, facing Rosa in the aforementioned September encounter. She picked up her first victory in the company on AEW Dark, besting KiLynn King. Now that Deeb is the new NWA World Women’s Champion, will she bring the title with her to Dynamite like Rosa before her? If so, who will step up to challenge the new titleholder?
