The National Wrestling Alliance has not put out their weekly NWA Powerrr show since their May 12th Super Powerrr special, due in no small part to the ongoing pandemic as well as the resignation of Dave Lagana. However, this has not stopped the promotion from finding ways to keep busy, thanks to their partnerships with All Elite Wrestling and United Wrestling Network.
Episode 3 of United Wrestling Networks’ new weekly show, titled Primetime Live, premiered Tuesday night on Fite TV. The main event saw Trevor Murdoch challenge Aron Stevens for his “Third Degree” National Championship, with Murdoch defeating the “Mongrovian Karate Specialist” to become the NWA National Champion for the first time in his career. The match itself showcased Murdoch overpowering Aron Stevens, despite Stevens crafty dissection of Murdoch’s knee. The finish came when Murdoch successfully reversed a roll-up attempt by Stevens to gain the pinfall victory.
Trevor Murdoch started his career in the WWE in a tag team with Lance Cade, winning the world tag team titles on three occasions, one of which came from a win over the Hardy Boyz. He was released in 2008, and after some success on the independent scene and TNA, announced his retirement from professional wrestling in 2018. However, Murdoch made his return a year later on the debut edition of NWA Powerrr to a positive reaction from fans and management alike, even challenging Nick Aldis for the NWA World Championship in an impressive (though unsuccessful) outing. He began his feud with Aron Stevens for the NWA National Championship back in January but was halted due to the company’s temporary shut down.
The card also featured UWN World Tag Team Champions SoCal Distancing retaining their titles against Real Money Brothers, “The Greek God” Papadon defeating Remy Marcel, and Chris Dickinson winning against Anthony Idol. Former NWA Women’s Champion Allysin Kay also sent a message to the current NWA Women’s Champion, Thunder Rosa, by defeating Nicole Savoy.
Episode 4 of Primetime Live will air on FITE TV on Oct. 6 at 9 pm.
