Harold Meij To Be Replaced As NJPW CEO

NJPW New Beginning USA

NJPW has announced that Harold Meij will be replaced as CEO on October 23rd.  Meij’s replacement will be Takami Obhari who currently overlooks NJPW Of America.

Meij’s time as president was short-lived as he was only appointed back in May of 2018 although he did seem to bring immediate tension to the company when he made a directive to ban english language swearing, something that the English talent had previously done without repercussion.

As we all know NJPW is a business owned by Bushiroad and only they will ever know the true reason for Meij’s departure but we can only speculate that he failed to meet the business targets set by Bushiroad.

Of course, Meij was reportedly one of the main people blocking an AEW/NJPW working relationship so with him gone the relationship between the two promotions may be utilised by each side.
