#5: Claiming Dominik Mysterio is his Son
Eddie Guerrero spent his final year doing everything possible to make his old friend, Rey Mysterio’s, life miserable. Jealous of Mysterio and overwhelmed by constant losses, he felt the need to torment him at any cost. The story deeply escalated when Eddie decided to make things personal by involving Mysterio’s son, current WWE star, Dominik Mysterio. Guerrero claimed that Dominik was his son and not Rey Mysterio’s, which led them to compete in a Ladder Match where the winner gets custody.
This match has brought significance in numerous ways. It led to the culmination of Mysterio and Eddie’s long, heated feud. It was also at that moment that Dominik decided to become a professional wrestler. When this storyline happened, WWE issued t-shirts, saying “I’m Your Papi”. Even today, Dominik still references Guerrero as his father in storylines against his real father, Rey Mysterio.
