TNA iMPACT “After The Glory” (10/16/25) – Some Words from the Bound For Glory Champions

As announced at TNA Bound For Glory, this week’s TNA iMPACT episode was an unusual one, as it’s an after-Bound For Glory special episode. “On a special After the Glory edition of TNA iMPACT!, go beyond the ring with exclusive access to the biggest event of the year, Bound For Glory,” says TNA Wrestling.

“Don’t miss never-before-seen interviews, backstage footage, and more. Plus, the Champions will be in the studio to take you inside their epic clashes.” After watching the episode, let’s Nygma-dive into what the Champions of that epic night had to say, plus a special look at the travesty ending of the X-Division Championship match.

TNA International Champion Steve Maclin

With the United States Marines lining the entranceway and his mother watching from ringside, Steve Maclin conquered Frankie Kazarian to recapture the TNA International Championship. Maclin’s post-match reaction is interesting. “When I stand there with Marines, firing up something that I’ve been wanting to do for so long, to bring attention to my brotherhood, my Bullet Club. We never forget one another. We know where we come from, and we know we do.”

He added, “And then I got ringside. When I see my mother, the woman who raised me, who knows how much I’ve loved this business as a profession. And then I became a professional wrestler 14 years ago. And I put everything into this. I hope that one day, when I have a child, I can do something like that. ”

After such a match, Maclin was not done for the night. “I want to keep working right now. I want to do this Call Your Shot Gauntlet, win the trophy myself, and cash in on every title. That’s how I feel. I’ll wrestle everybody. That’s the energy level I’m at right now. That was awesome.”

TNA X-Division Champion Leon Slater

It was an adrenaline-pumping dream match when NXT’s Je’Von Evans challenged Leon Slater for the X-Division Championship, until DarkState made their presence felt. Slater remembered his first encounters with Evans in NXT, “It was wild, because I’ve always prided myself on being unique and carrying myself in a certain way and doing things that nobody else can do. And that’s worked for me up until this point, until I was in the ring with Je’Von. It was almost like looking in a mirror, or looking like myself was doing it also in the ring.”

The magic of the match didn’t escape Slater. “I’ve never really been in the ring with someone where it’s been so 50/50 like nine times out of 10. There’s always some type of difference, but me and him (Evans) are so one for one. Those early exchanges really put it in my head that we’re about to be in for a long night, and it’d be difficult to put him away.  I think magic is the best way to describe what happened on Sunday for sure.”

The end of the match left Slater bittersweet. “I think Je’Von and I were on the verge of creating something that would stand the test of time and live forever as one of the best X-Division Championship matches of all time. And I truly believe that all it needed was that cherry on top to decide who is the better man and to see who’s the winner. They stomped it and they threw it in the mud. So we’ll get our get-back, though.”

Eric Young

After Mickie James talked about her TNA Hall of Fame induction and the Knockouts matches at Bound For Glory, the unhinged Eric Young arrived. He felt as though he was robbed in the Call Your Shot Gauntlet match and delivered an ominous warning.

NXT and TNA World Tag Team Champions The Hardys

The Hardys and Team 3D, two of the greatest tag teams of all time, wrote the last chapter in their legendary rivalry in a One Final Table for both the TNA and NXT Tag Team Titles. In the end, the Hardys reigned supreme, and Team 3D would retire from professional wrestling.

Matt Hardy was still quite shocked, “The emotions were certainly high, and there were a lot of them. Sometimes, I feel very bad about what we did in some ways because we ended up retiring the Dudleys. When it’s all said and done, it’s just a very strong reminder that everything ends, even the Immortals. I think it is our job now to continue to move forward, remember those guys giving us their boots, and make sure their legacy lives on through us in many, many ways.”

Matt Hardy confirmed they had no idea that Team 3D would give them their boots. “We didn’t know they were planning on retiring. We had no idea that was happening, and we especially had no idea that they were going to hand us their boots, which was the ultimate sign of respect, I would say.”

TNA World Champion Mike Santana

Mike Santana is just still processing everything that happened to him at Bound For Glory. “It’s probably the toughest fight of my life,” he said. “I can’t wait to go home and celebrate with the little one and just really take everything in.” His path may be through, but more goals are in front of him, as he’s here at the top spot. Santana also talked about Amazing Red and Konnan.

Santana remembered his Slammiversary disappointment. “That car ride home from the UBS arena that night was one of the hardest things I’ve dealt with because I had to, I live maybe 30 minutes from the arena. In those 30 minutes, I kept looking in the rear-view mirror at Arianna sitting in the back seat and seeing how disappointed she was. And that did something to me. From July to now, I have been in a totally different mindset. I made a promise to her and I made a promise to myself that I will never disappoint her again.”

The car ride to Boston after Bound For Glory was different. “It was definitely a different vibe, different energy. At the same time, it was also very quiet because I think we were all processing it. What an amazing journey, amazing moment. What more do I need to show my daughter that anything is possible when you work at it? I do everything to make her understand that she was a huge driving force. I won that life. I could retire tomorrow. I did everything. Everything else after this is a plus because, forever, she’s going to be able to say, “Look what my dad did. I could do anything in the world.”

Nygma Says

The interviews represented just a bit of the episode, but they offered a nice look at what is on the minds of the wrestlers who lived such incredible moments at Bound For Glory. Next week, we get an in-depth look at The Path to Bound For Glory on “Bound For Glory: Fade to Black.” A new episode of iMPACT, with matches and segments, is not yet on the menu, for now. Till next week, may the Nygma be with you.
