WWE SmackDown Results (10/17/25):

  • WWE SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis welcomes the WWE Universe in San Jose, California. Aldis stated that the match between Jacob Fatu and Drew McIntyre tonight will become the number one contender to the Undisputed WWE Championship held by Cody Rhodes. The “American Nightmare” would then enter to “Kingdom” to kick off SmackDown. The commentary team then chimes in, with Vic Joseph and a returning Corey Graves. Rhodes addressed the Crown Jewel loss, letting bygones be bygones, since both he and Rollins have their own problems. Rhodes stated that he’s focused on the task at hand on his show, SmackDown, and he’s beyond excited to see who’s going to challenge him next: Drew McIntyre or Jacob Fatu.
  • Backstage, we see a heated argument between Solo Sikoa and Rey Fenix, before MFT violently assaulted the Luchador.
  • For the first dose of action tonight, WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss defend the titles against Zaria and Sol Ruca of NXT. Ringside, NXT Women’s North American Champion Sol Ruca’s challenger, Blake Monroe, would monitor the action ahead of their showdown. The NXT duo would take control very early in the match, with Zaria dominating Alexa Bliss, and Ruca keeping the isolation strategy going. Ruca and Zaria would get too overconfident, allowing Bliss to tag in Flair into the match, finally. Ruca was extremely close to bringing the gold back to NXT, hitting Sol Snatcher on Charlotte. Fortunately, Bliss made it in time to make the save. Sol would get caught. Charlotte Flair saw the opening, locking in the Figure-Eight Leg Lock for the submission victory and to retain the titles for her team.
  • Fatu caught up with Rhodes, issuing a warning that they’ll meet soon. Up next, Aleister Black and Zelina Vega address the conclusion of the Last Man Standing Match in Perth against Damian Priest. Black and Vega stated that they’ve been putting this in motion, and they aim to put the mirror up to the faces of the guilty, with Priest being their first great example.
  • Sami Zayn cut into the conversation between The Miz and Nick Aldis, with Sami wanting a reason why a U.S. Open Challenge isn’t on the card tonight. Sami would plead his case, but Aldis wants to grant Shinsuke Nakamura a proper rematch, but he remains in Japan for the WWE Tour of the country. Zayn stated that he’s going to go out there now, with or without Aldis’ permission, to continue the U.S. Open Challenge.
  • United States Champion Sami Zayn entered first. The Miz would answer the challenge before getting battered by Carmelo Hayes, payback for what he did a few weeks back. Confused, Zayn waits for another soul to answer his call. Well, Zayn got what he wanted as a particular “Mad Dragon” is ready to breathe fire and take the U.S. Open Challenge. Suffice it to say, this is Sami’s toughest test to date, and that’s a tall order, considering the names he has retained against. The two would lay it all on the line in San Jose in a highly physical match. Dragunov had Zayn’s number on multiple occasions in this match, catching Zayn with a Constantine Special. As Ilja was about to go for the kill with an H-Bomb, Zayn would hit a mid-air Helluva Kick, and a Blue Thunder Bomb for the near-count. An interference would cost Zayn, leading to Dragunov finishing him off with an H-Bomb to become #AndNEW U.S. Champion.
  • Backstage, Cathy Kelley would catch up with WWE Women’s Champion Tiffany Stratton, asking about her setback at WWE Crown Jewel Perth. Stratton would speak about it before getting interrupted by Kiana James. The two would get into it before Stratton told James to put her money where her mouth is and face her in a match next week. James gladly accepted.
  • On the anniversary of their first meeting, Motor City Machine Guns runs it back with Los Garza in San Jose. In an exciting example of what tag team wrestling is all about, MCMG and Los Garza went at it, putting on a show. Unfortunately for Angel and Berto, it would be Groundhog Day as Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin would hit them with Skull and Bones to claim the W.
  • To end the night, a number one contender’s match between Jacob Fatu and Drew McIntyre will take place in the main event. The “Samoan Werewolf’s” music would hit; however, we would see Fatu laid out backstage ahead of this monumental showdown. Back from the break, we see a bloody Jacob Fatu being looked over by the WWE medical team and SmackDown GM Nick Aldis. Drew McIntyre’s music would hit, walking to the ring with a big grin on his face. McIntyre referred to Fatu as San Jose’s hero who had “all gas and no brakes” before demanding the referee raise his hand and declare him the number one contender. Before that could happen, Aldis would come out and tell McIntyre that there would be serious consequences if he found out Drew did the deed. Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes did not want to do anything with this nonsense, telling McIntyre that if he wanted his title match, they would do it right now, as all hell broke loose.
  • Back from the break, the bell would ring, with Rhodes still in street clothes to defend his Undisputed WWE Title Match. Due to its impromptu nature, this wasn’t a match either man planned for, leading to a straight-up dirty brawl. McIntyre almost had Cody, hitting him with a Future Shock DDT. Cody Rhodes would kick out, but McIntyre laid it on even thicker. Enraged, Rhodes would hit McIntyre with a foreign object, leading to the match getting thrown out. Cody set up McIntyre on top of the announcers’ table to deliver a Cross Rhodes, but Nick Aldis would plead with him, and WWE security would take away McIntyre. Things aren’t over until the champ says so. Cody would scale the top rope and hit a Splash on McIntyre and the WWE officials to end this intense night.

That is all for REAL-TIME WWE SmackDown results for October 17, 2025, as they happened LIVE from San Jose, California.
