The month of scares kicks off with a frighteningly exciting edition of WWE’s premier Friday night program. Cincinnati, Ohio, will play host this Friday night in the beautiful Heritage Bank Center. Buckle up, folks, it’s going to be another wild weekender if you’re a professional wrestling and sports entertainment fan. Here is a WWE SmackDown preview for October 3rd, 2025. Let’s run it down.
WWE SmackDown Preview and Match Card (10/3/25):
- Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes & Randy Orton vs. The Vision
- Damien Priest in Action
- Sami Zayn Defends United States Title in “U.S. Open Challenge”
An Epic Reunion
From 2008 to 2011, Randy Orton and Cody Rhodes ran in a group called The Legacy, wherein they took over WWE, winning WWE and World Tag Team Titles, as well as a Royal Rumble victory for “The Viper” in 2009. This Friday night, the student and mentor, two best friends, will reunite in the main event of this week’s WWE SmackDown.
On WWE Monday Night Raw, Seth Rollins and Rhodes had a heated exchange ahead of their showdown at WWE Crown Jewel Perth, wherein it’s a Champion vs. Champion bout for the WWE Crown Jewel Championship. Cody stepped into Rollins’ domain, and it looks like the “Architect” took exception to being run down on his own show.

Friday night, Rollins sends over his boys, Bronson Reed and Bron Breakker of The Vision, to potentially soften up the Undisputed WWE Champion before next week’s juggernaut matchup, as announced by SmackDown General Manager himself, Nick Aldis, to headline the show in Ohio. Fortunately for Rhodes, he has the best back-up imaginable in the form of the 14-time WWE Champion and unrelenting “Apex Predator” of WWE, Randy Orton.
Orton and Rhodes have always had each other’s backs. Unfortunately, despite their rich history as a unit, Reed and Breakker might be the toughest test they’ve had to date.
Will The Vision get one for their incumbent leader? Or will Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton take us back in time and show shades of the devastating Legacy?
Find out this Friday night on WWE SmackDown, which you can catch on The USA Network and Netflix!
