Damian Priest could have got heated outside the ring

Notable Superstars Who Will Miss WWE SummerSlam 2025

WWE presents its first two-night SummerSlam tonight. The show will feature six matches each night. While many titles and some non-title matches made it to the card, several superstars didn’t secure a spot in the biggest party of the summer. These stars have been heavily featured in recent months but lacked relevant storylines to justify their inclusion in the event.

Which Notable Superstars Didn’t Make it to WWE SummerSlam 2025?

WWE has a stacked roster across all three brands. Several superstars have proven their worth for every major show. Despite their accomplishments, Damian Priest, LA Knight, Giulia, Finn Bálor, Bayley, Chelsea Green, Penta, and Stephanie Vaquer will not compete at SummerSlam.

What Are their Current Storylines?

Damian Priest is involved in a storyline with Aleister Black. He attempted to mediate between Black and R-Truth but received a Black Mass instead. Giulia isn’t defending her Women’s United States Championship at the premium live event. Chelsea Green and her Secret Service faction have been feuding with babyfaces but didn’t secure a SummerSlam match.

Stephanie Vaquer earned a Women’s World Championship match against Naomi at Clash in Paris by winning a 20-woman battle royal at WWE Evolution. Despite these active storylines, they haven’t translated into SummerSlam opportunities.

Finn Bálor, the current World Tag Team Champion with JD McDonagh, has LWO’s Cruz Del Toro and Joaquin Wilde as the #1 contenders. However, they are also absent from SummerSlam.

Why Did WWE Keep These Superstars off SummerSlam 2025?

WWE understands fans’ desire for every storyline to culminate at a premium live event. However, with limited spots available, not every wrestler can be featured. This is why multi-time Women’s Champion Bayley is not competing at SummerSlam. The company aims to keep fans engaged across all premium live events, which sometimes means leaving popular superstars off the card, including tonight’s PLE.
