Chelsea Green has waved goodbye to WWE

Chelsea Green Bids Farewell to WWE, following US Title Loss & WrestleMania 41 Absence

Chelsea Green has said goodbye to the WWE Universe following her shock US Championship loss on SmackDown last Friday. The challenger, Zelina Vega, earned a title shot after beating Green in successive episodes of SmackDown.

In what was a short, but eventful match, The Secret Hervice were ejected by the referee for interfering in the match. Vega then landed a Code Red to complete her third straight victory against Green and bring her 131-day reign to a close.

Chelsea Green exits WWE’s presidential quarters

Green’s inaugural US title run has been an enjoyable one to witness, with defenses against Michin and Sol Ruca. The adoption of her presidential persona for the title run also drew acclaim from fans and journalists alike. Following the loss, Green took to social media to post an official statement in line with her current persona:

“Goodbye for now @WWE
“This is my farewell address.”

The statement, accompanied by a photo of the US Capitol with the flag at half mast, suggested that Green may be taking a break following a significantly busy run in WWE. However, it could just be Green recognizing that she no longer represents the United States with the loss of her title.

In the last year, Green enjoyed a lengthy rivalry with Michin, with both superstars meeting in the tournament final for the inaugural women’s US Championship. Green also lasted 26 minutes in the 2025 Royal Rumble and came close to winning the 2024 Money in the Bank ladder match. Atop the ladder, Green completed the spot of the night, with eventual winner Tiffany Stratton pushing her off and through a pair of tables.

Green’s performances fail to land WrestleMania 41 spot

A recent point of contention surrounding Green’s US title reign was her absence from the WrestleMania 41 match card. Green was the only WWE title holder that didn’t appear in a title match at WrestleMania or the preceding episodes of Raw and SmackDown. It was a strange omission, considering Intercontinental Champion Lyra Valkyria didn’t defend her title either but instead competed for the women’s tag titles.

Valkyria has also been further pushed into the spotlight by entering a feud with Becky Lynch on WWE Raw.

However, when speaking to Unlikely’s Adrian Hernandez, Green had nothing but praise for her fellow female colleagues’ performances at WrestleMania. “I think that the women that were on the show did an amazing job of representing all of us. So, although I’m upset and I wish I could have been on it, I’m really proud of the girls.”
