Dominik Mysterio to face John Cena for Intercontinental Championship

Dominik Mysterio is the *Greatest Intercontinental Champion of All-Time*

WrestleMania 41 saw its fair share of title changes including all of the men’s championships that were on the line. But perhaps the greatest title change of them all occurred on Sunday when Dominik Mysterio pinned Finn Balor to claim the Intercontinental Championship, his first singles title in his over 20 year career in wrestling.

Dominik Mysterio arrived to the post-show desk to experience a reaction he hasn’t heard in years: fans cheering him. As Mysterio sat down, he received a variety of chants including a series of “you deserve it,” which is the ultimate response to hear especially when you’ve been one of WWE’s most booed heels. But Mysterio, ever the consummate pro, took it in stride by doing what he does best, hyping himself up.

The rising star noted how he was a veteran of this business, having been in and around WWE since he was just eight years old. And now, he’s the greatest Intercontinental Champion of all-time. Mysterio turned to Big E on the panel noting how he was already a better IC champ than Big E ever was and he’s only had the title for like 30 minutes. Mysterio noted that on multiple occasions, that he was the greatest champ of all-time. He even went so far to say he was the greatest Mysterio of all-time, noting how he’s only improved after getting rid of the deadweight that was his “deadbeat dad.” Joe Tessitore gave Mysterio a pass on the delusional comment before reminding Mysterio his dad is a Hall of Famer. To which Mysterio didn’t seem to see the relevance telling the panel he could be in the Hall of Fame tomorrow if he wanted. Mysterio talked about how he was carrying on two legacies, the Mysterios and the Guerreros. And he was doing so as the greatest Intercontinental Champion of all-time.

Maybe on the Raw after WrestleMania, Dominik Mysterio will get to cut his first promo where fans can actually hear what he has to say. Though, if he says he’s the greatest IC champ of all-time, that honeymoon period may be short-lived.
