WWE WrestleMania 41: Will John Cena End Cody Rhodes’ Reign?

John Cena Tells Fans to Tune in on Monday to “See How I Ruin Wrestling”

Never let it be said that John Cena isn’t friendly to the press.

On the WrestleMania 41 post-show, in his first public comments since making history, Cena arrived at the podium to field questions. Unlike after Elimination Chamber when Cena simply dropped the mic, the now 17-time champ was prepared to fill his company role. Cena told the reporters as the champion it was his job to improve the relationship between reporters and WWE so he was there to take any and all questions.

The first was about the Rock and how the alliance between the two WWE legends came about. John Cena didn’t appreciate that saying it seemed like a click bait question and lazy reporting. So came the next question as Cena was asked about his fitness and mental preparation in advance of the title match. Click bait and lazy reporting. Then, an ESPN reporter was up and Cena pointed out that was a respectable publication. He hoped the question would be too. Cena was asked about why he hasn’t smiled since Elimination Chamber and would he be willing to finally smile now that he won. Click bait and lazy reporting.

John Cena said he sensed there was a pattern here and moved on to field his final question, which was a softball as he was asked what it felt like to break Ric Flair’s record. Cena expressed his displeasure with the questions and said it seemed all people wanted was a headline. He offered to give them one.

“Tune in to Monday Night Raw to see how I ruin wrestling.”

Cena reminded the reporters to keep in mind that they were talking to the last real world champion and they should really step up their game next time.

Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the new era.
