WWE WrestleMania 41 is less than two weeks away, and the card is still looking a little light. With WWE’s roster at an all-time high in terms of depth and quality, the promotion decided to deliver the flagship event over two nights, starting with WrestleMania 36 in 2020. WWE is set to emulate this format with SummerSlam for the first time this coming August.
This week’s edition of Raw confirmed two more matches. Firstly, the long-expected fatal 4-way for Bron Breakker’s Intercontinental Championship. Secondly, a singles match between Rey Mysterio and El Grande Americano (or Chad Gable for the detectives among us). While these matches add to an already exciting card, it still only brings the match card count to 11.
How Many Matches Can We Expect at WrestleMania 41?
Since adopting the two-night structure, the final card count has always been between 14 and 16. This number has been affected by the types of matches booked for the event too. For example, WrestleMania 36 featured 16 matches, but the vast majority of these were singles matches.
WrestleMania 41’s confirmed matches include four non-singles bouts. And this number looks set to increase, as neither of the men’s tag team champions have been booked for title defenses yet. With the number of non-singles matches likely to increase to at least six, expect the overall match card count to be 14 or 15.
Who Will Fill Out The Remaining Spaces?
Fans will be desperate to see Randy Orton in some capacity. Orton has only just returned to the screens, having been written off in November following a package piledriver from Kevin Owens. Originally set to face Orton at WrestleMania, Owens is set to be sidelined for the foreseeable future due to neck surgery.
The legitimacy of the injury is still up for debate, with many fans believing that it is a work and Owens will appear at the event. However, that still leaves Orton without an opponent. Either way, expect the Apex Predator to appear in some form. Orton has wrestled at WrestleMania 19 times, with only The Undertaker (27) and Triple H (23) ahead of him.
The WWE Men’s Tag Team Champions’ Opponents Remain Unclear
The War Raiders retained their tag titles on Raw this week, albeit in less-than-ideal circumstances. The World Tag Team Champions lost by DQ to The New Day after Ivar unintentionally hit Xavier Woods with a steel chair. This rivalry looks set to continue into WrestleMania.
As for the WWE Tag Team Championship, WWE would be missing a trick if they didn’t attempt another multi-team match at WrestleMania 41. The turmoil and animosity within the tag division have led to a brilliant five-team rivalry that has been one of the highlights of 2025 so far.
While The Motor City Machine Guns currently hold #1 contender status, expect interventions from the remaining teams whenever that championship match takes place. All five teams have contributed strongly to the storyline, and each deserves their WrestleMania moment this year.
Will Chelsea Green and Lyra Valkyria Defend Their Titles?
Finally, the women’s midcard titles. Chelsea Green’s Women’s United States Championship run has been a joy to watch. And while Lyra Valkyria’s Women’s Intercontinental Championship reign was so slow out of the blocks, it has gained momentum over recent weeks with title defenses against Raquel Rodriguez and Bayley.
It remains unclear as to who will challenge Green and Valkyria, respectively. But, as this is the inaugural year for the women’s midcard titles, it would be a massive oversight not to have them defended at WrestleMania.
