Finally, we are getting a WWE Women’s Intercontinental Championship! There’s nothing better than seeing these women get more opportunities. They all worked incredibly hard to transition from the Divas Championship to now having multiple Women’s Championships. There are only a few women left on the roster who were wrestling back when the Divas Championship was still active, one of them being Natalya.
She is considered a pioneer for the women’s division because she has helped guide women’s wrestling to its current state. Women’s wrestling has continued to grow, and we have seen many new and impressive talents. Some pioneers, particularly Natalya, have also stayed and guided the women’s division.
Natalya has been in the WWE since 2008 and doesn’t seem to be leaving anytime soon. Wrestling runs in her blood, as she is part of the most influential wrestling family in the WWE, the Hart Family.
Natalya is participating in this Intercontinental Championship tournament and may be one of the favorites to win.
Here is why Natalya should be named the first WWE Women’s Intercontinental Champion.
Previous Singles Championship Runs
Natalya has only held a singles championship twice in her WWE career. She held the Divas Championship in 2011 and the Smackdown Women’s Championship in 2017, which lasted up to three months. This is surprising, considering how beloved she is to the company.
Having Natalya win the Intercontinental Championship would be refreshing. We would finally see someone different in the spotlight.
Even though Natalya has always been around, she has only sometimes been in top storylines and, at some points, even had periods where she wasn’t being used on television.
Given her time with the company, one would think she would have many single-title runs or at least more than two. However, Natalya has been involved in many championship matches out of the 1700 matches she has had in WWE and has only won two.
This is shocking despite her dedication and reliability to the company, but now may be the perfect opportunity for her. If she wins, she will further cement herself into WWE history as the first Women’s Intercontinental Champion.
This new championship is a perfect opportunity for Natalya and the other women on the roster. It will help more women get featured and, hopefully, create more popular women’s storylines.
Helping New Talent
One reason Natalya has won fewer championships in the company is how well she manages new talent. But this is a reason why she should be the champion.
She is among the most experienced, if not the most skilled, female on the roster. Natalya went from learning from her family in the infamous Hart Family Dungeon to teaching upcoming wrestlers.
WWE often pits experienced wrestlers against young and upcoming ones. These wrestlers have extensive experience and know how to make the other wrestler look good in the match, no matter who wins or loses.
Stars like John Cena and Randy Orton, along with Natalya, are known to help upcoming wrestlers.
If Natalya wins this championship, it will help her career, and it will help her help upcoming talent. She can quickly put over these new stars and create intriguing stories with them to launch their careers on the main roster.
A common misperception is that one must lose to put the other over, even though that isn’t true. It’s a matter of selling, executing, and telling a story. Natalya has the potential to hold a championship longer than three months if she is given the chance.
Role Model
There is nothing like a champion who is a role model to young children and adults. Natalya fits this role perfectly, as her hard work must be noticed in the business.
She can arguably be named one of the top role models for young children (along with Bayley, of course). She continues to impress with her undeniable work ethic and consistent ability to show up. Her manner of conduct is very professional.
She is incredibly humble for being part of one of the most prominent wrestling families.
Natalya has done a lot for the WWE and has always been one of its most reliable employees. Her 20 years in the company have proven why she should be the first-ever Women’s Intercontinental Champion.
