For months, tensions between Damian Priest and Finn Balor have been at an all-time high. Since getting his World Heavyweight Championship stolen from him at WWE SummerSlam,
Priest has gone after Balor multiple times. This feud culminated in a match at Bad Blood, where Priest was victorious. Afterwards, it seemed like those two were done with each other. However, as is often seen in professional wrestling, that wasn’t the case.
Balor went after Priest again during his match against Gunther, a repeat of what happened months prior. After the night was over, a Judgment Day beatdown made Priest’s night go from bad to worse after initially attacking Balor in the parking lot.
This situation has gotten so out of control that a normal match can’t resolve the feud. It has to be a special match, in this case a cage match, that will decide the winner.
Priest and Balor Need to Let Out All Their Anger and Rage
The situation between Priest and Balor isn’t your typical wrestling feud. It’s an all-out war between two industry veterans who have spent the past couple of years in a tight friendship.
A simple match hasn’t resolved any of their issues, so they need a special match in order for them to truly let their emotions out. The cage match is a perfect way to harness those emotions that they’re feeling.
Priest and Balor are forced to fight in a confined space, surrounded by steel separating them from everyone else. A match that forces you to confront your opponent head on without interference is a perfect way for them to fight their next battle.
Given how heated they are, the steel cage is the best venue to let off some steam.
The Judgment Day Won’t Be Able to Help Them
One thing that is a signature move during any Judgment Day match is interference. It doesn’t matter who or where, there’s bound to be some distractions in order to gain an advantage. The way to prevent that from happening is to book a cage match.
The group has beaten up Priest countless times, making the interference spots very predictable.
In fact, having a Judgment Day match without any meddling is a surprise. If one of them tries to give Balor a leg up during a cage match, it won’t work since they won’t be able to get inside the cage.
Doing so would cause a disqualification, leading to no winner being declared. If WWE is insistent on having a winner, a cage match would guarantee that no shenanigans would take place.
Why Priest and Balor Need a Cage Match
The cage match is perfect for Damian Priest and Finn Balor for a wide variety of reasons. First, the feud has boiled over, with no end in sight unless a drastic decision is made. Second, Priest is massively outnumbered, given that the Judgment Day is lurking behind every corner and watching his every move.
Finally, there’s only one match that can prevent interference while isolating Priest and Balor from everyone else. When a feud has elevated from a normal level to a raging firestorm, tough decisions have to be made.
Normally, those decisions include an exciting match that is usually only seen on special occasions. The cage match is the best way for WWE to end the Damian Priest and Finn Balor feud for good.
