Preview: GCW The Way I Am (5/20/23) – Full Card, Start Time, How to Watch

GCW The Way I Am

This Saturday, Game Changer Wrestling returns to Harpos Concert Theatre in Detroit, Michigan for GCW The Way I Am. The last time that GCW held an event at this venue was back in October for the company’s Drop Dead event. This weekend’s action looks to be nothing short of promising, especially as GCW I Can’t Save You takes place the following night in Columbus, Ohio. Are you planning on taking the trip out to the Detroit action? Tickets can be purchased below. However, the action can still be seen on FITE+ for those unable to attend in person. Without any further delay, let’s take a closer look at the announced card and a few key matches.

John Wayne Murdoch vs Crazy King at GCW The Way I Am

Crazy King Makes His GCW Debut

Making his Game Changer Wrestling – as well as United States – debut at GCW The Way I Am is Mexican deathmatch star Crazy King. This masked bruiser has over a decade of experience under his belt, wrestling primarily in his home country of Mexico. The promotions he worked for include, but aren’t limited to, New Wrestling Generation, All Style Pro Wrestling, and Desastre Total Ultraviolento. In fact, King is the last recognized DTU World Extreme Champion, holding the title for nearly 2,000 days as of this writing.

After having wrestled largely in Mexico for his entire country, King will wrestle on American soil for the first time as he goes up against John Wayne Murdoch. A deathmatch veteran in his own right, Murdoch is a former GCW Ultraviolent and 2x World Tag Team Champion, not to mention the winner of last year’s Nick Gage Invitational 7 tournament. With credentials such as these, it should go without saying that Murdoch won’t make King’s GCW debut a cakewalk. Expect this bout to see both competitors throw everything they have at each other.

GCW World Tag Team Championship Match at The Way I Am

A Tag Team Title Triple Threat in Detroit

The GCW World Tag Team Championship will be contested at GCW The Way I Am and the champions have their work cut out for them. East West Express, the duo of Nick Wayne and Jordan Oliver, captured the titles from Motor City Machine Guns at Joey Janela’s Spring Break 7 this past March. Since then, Wayne and Oliver have held their own as champions, successfully defending the gold against The Rejects and The Workhorsemen last month. Without question, these were big defenses for the young tag team titleholders, but it will be this Saturday when they face their greatest challenge yet.

East West Express will have to defend the GCW World Tag Team Championship against not only Motor City Machine Guns but Los Macizos, the latter team being 3x GCW World Tag Team Champions in their own right. This doesn’t even begin to cover the tag team title success MCMG, the duo of Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley, have seen in promotions such as Ring of Honor, New Japan Pro-Wrestling, and IMPACT Wrestling. To say that the reigning champions are facing a mountain would be an understatement, but to see them overcome it would afford them that much more validity as formidable GCW World Tag Team Champions.
