GCW Fight Night Brooklyn

Game Changer Wrestling returns to New York this Thursday for what can best be described as “Fight Night.” GCW Fight Night: Brooklyn is set to emanate live from Roulette Intermedium, a venue where GCW will make its debut. It aims to be a banner evening as well, as it features everything from hard-hitting matches on paper to a birthday celebration that one needn’t an invitation to attend. All of this will take place on Thursday night and for those that can’t attend in person, FITE+ is your source for live streaming; further information can be found below. Without any further delay, let’s take a closer look.

Matt Cardona Birthday Celebration GCW Fight Night Brooklyn

The Matt Cardona Birthday Celebration

As mentioned earlier, GCW Fight Night: Brooklyn will be the stage for a birthday celebration. To be more specific, Matt Cardona will celebrate his 38th birthday a few days early in front of the GCW faithful. To say that the last few months have been a whirlwind for the self-proclaimed “Deathmatch King” would be an understatement. His wife, Chelsea Green, recently found her way back to WWE and away from the independent scene. However, he quickly found a new ally in the form of Steph De Lander, who NXT fans may know for her brief stint on said brand as Persia Pirotta. Cardona and De Lander’s partnership has proven fruitful, as evidenced by their victory over Los Macizos last month at GCW Into the Light. However, on Fight Night, Cardona isn’t in a battling mood, as he aims to party with friends, fans, and detractors alike. However, if his recent run-ins with Maki Itoh and Nick Gage are any indication, expect this birthday celebration to go off with a few hitches along the way.

Charles Mason vs Jimmy Lloyd at GCW Fight Night Brooklyn

Charles Mason Faces Jimmy Lloyd

“The Root of All Evil” Charles Mason lives up to his name. Avid Game Changer Wrestling fans can attest to this, as they’ve witnessed his cerebral targeting of Allie Katch and those closest to her. This particular feud took on different forms including singles, tag team, and cage matches, each one intensifying the narrative at hand. Most recently, Mason and his Mercenaries fell to the threesome of Katch, EFFY, and Dark Sheik at EFFY’s Big Gay Brunch 6. This isn’t to say that Mason has been without success elsewhere, as he’s the current reigning heavyweight titleholder for the New York-based House of Glory promotion. At GCW Fight Night: Brooklyn, Mason faces “The Different Boy” Jimmy Lloyd for the first time in one-on-one action. Mason may not let anything stop him from achieving his victory, though given Lloyd’s propensity to throw caution to the wind, a victory won’t be easily achieved for the New York-born “Root of All Evil.” Keep an eye on this match come Thursday.

Zack Sabre Jr vs Tony Deppen

Zack Sabre Jr. Makes His GCW Debut

One of the featured matches set for GCW Fight Night: Brooklyn involves the Game Changer Wrestling debut of Zack Sabre Jr. The submission specialist from the United Kingdom developed a reputation for being one of the most proficient technical wrestlers in the game today. He’s currently signed to New Japan Pro-Wrestling, where he amassed numerous achievements since debuting for said company in 2017. Such accomplishments include 3 IWGP Tag Team Championship victories, 2 New Japan Cup victories, and being crowned the first-ever NJPW World Television Champion. ZSJ’s credentials and skill set speak for themselves, which only makes his upcoming GCW debut all the more exciting. Furthermore, he’s set to take on a talented grappler in his own right in Tony Deppen.

Wrestling largely for GCW so far in 2023, Deppen has become one of the wrestlers most synonymous with the company. This is further evidenced by the fact that he’s worked bouts that fans considered the best of the shows he’s worked. The talent he’s locked up with range from Robert Martyr to Shazza McKenzie to Ricky Morton. He’s also been seen on All Elite Wrestling and Ring of Honor programming, once capturing the ROH World Television Championship back in 2021. One shouldn’t let his outward arrogance fool them; Deppen is as legitimate a grappler as they come. Will he be legit enough to pick up a victory at GCW Fight Night: Brooklyn at the expense of ZSJ? Regardless of the outcome, this is a match not to be missed.
