The G1 Climax rolls on as day 8 hosts B Block action with a massive showdown between SANADA and Hiroshi Tanahashi the headline match. Also on the card is an all-CHAOS clash between Kazuchika Okada and Hirooki Goto. Let’s preview the G1 Climax 31 Day 8 action.
Jeff Cobb (6) vs Tama Tonga (2)
Cobb has had a monstrous start to his tournament winning all three of his opening matches in impressive fashion. Tonga has been slipping up in this G1 and has already lost 2 matches which makes this one look like an easy win for the United Empire’s Cobb.
EVIL (4) vs Chase Owens (0)
Bullet Club vs Bullet Club once again in the G1 as EVIL takes on the winless Owens. EVIL’s House of Torture subgroup will likely aim to get involved even if Owens is a fellow stablemate. It is that kind of ruthless cheating that has got EVIL his 4 points in the block so far.
YOSHI-HASHI (0) vs Taichi (4)
To some, this will be the match of the night as both Taichi and HASHI have cult followings online. HASHI has not been off to the best start in this G1 and will be hoping to turn things around with a spirited effort against the Suzuki-Gun member. This will be their first-ever singles clash so we have no idea who will have the upper hand until this one is over.
Kazuchika Okada (6) vs Hirooki Goto (0)
Goto enters this match off the back of three straight losses in the G1 while Okada is a perfect 3-0 so far. Goto will come into this match confident that he can beat Okada as all three of his 1 vs 1 wins over Okada have come in the G1 Climax.
Hiroshi Tanahashi (4) vs SANADA (4)
In the long run this could be an important match in the tournament. Tanahashi and SANADA have already lost one match each in this tournament, a second loss would not only put them in a precarious position but it would give the winner an edge in the tiebreaker which could come into play as the tournament nears its conclusion.
