Lucha Libre AAA Preview (6/20/26) – El Grande Americano Returns

Lucha Libre AAA is back for another week and will air live from Mérida, Mexico.

While we had Lucha Libre AAA last week, this will be the true follow-up to everything that had occurred on AAA’s Noche de los Grandes event, as last week’s episode was taped before the event in Mexico City,

This episode of Lucha Libre AAA will also kick off the road to AAA’s next special event, which will be Verano de Escandalo on July 25th.

There have been quite a few announcements about the show, which may shape the future of AAA.

The Return of El Grande Americano

After a grueling Mask vs. Mask match in which he was victorious and unmasked “The Original” El Grande Americano, El Grande Americano will return to AAA as the one and only man to bear the name. It will be interesting to see what will be next for El Grande Americano as we roll into Verano de Escandalo.

Americano is due for a future AAA Mega Championship match, due to winning the Rey de Reyes Tournament, so we may see him finally attempt his next goal of becoming a champion. It could also be the beginning of a new feud or road for Americano to get his title match, as many stars in the back may be looking to step up with the new big star of Lucha Libre AAA.

Cruiserweight Championship on the Line

Rey Fenix is set to make his first defense of the AAA World Cruiserweight Championship on Saturday, where he is set to face off against former champion Laredo Kid and Lince Dorado.

Rey Fenix and Laredo Kid have been having a rivalry the last couple of weeks, which began when Fenix defeated Laredo Kid in their first one-on-one match in the rivalry. Laredo Kid was then able to retain his AAA World Cruiserweight Championship after cheating to get the victory over Rey Fenix. In their third bout, Rey Fenix was able to defeat Laredo Kid in the rubber match to win the AAA World Cruiserweight Title at the Noche de Los Grandes event.

Laredo Kid is looking to avenge his loss to Rey Fenix and regain his championship. However, the addition of Lince Dorado to the match may stop those plans of regaining the title.

Dominik Mysterio Makes His Return to Lucha Libre AAA

Dominik Mysterio will also be making his return to AAA after a bit of a hiatus.

The last time we saw Dominik in AAA was in a backstage shot three weeks ago, where he was seen showing his displeasure with his father, Rey Mysterio, being announced as the new General Manager of AAA. While he has not done much with AAA recently, Dominik also last defended his AAA Mega Championship against “The Original” El Grande Americano (Chad Gable) on the May 11, 2026, episode of WWE Monday Night Raw.

With his father now in charge and new challengers arising, there can be a lot coming in the way of Dominik Mysterio and his AAA Mega Championship in AAA.

AAA GM Rey Mysterio is Set to Make an Announcement

Speaking of Mysterios, AAA General Manager Rey Mysterio will be making an announcement on the show.

Mysterio has a lot on his plate with the stars of AAA looking for title matches and Verano de Escandalo and Triplemania on the way soon. With it being his first month, Mysterio could be looking to spice things up.

There are many questions about what it could be. Will it be regarding the AAA Mega Title? A potential new wrestler or title? A big match for Verano de Escándalo? We’ll see this Saturday on AAA at 10/9c on YouTube and Facebook.
