WWE WrestleMania 42 – Night 2 was the stage where Trick Williams finally walked the walk with his Lemon Pepper Steppers, as he became United States Champion, signaling that he’s not about to emerge. Still, he has arrived, as he put the beating on Sami Zayn at the “Grandest Stage of them All.”
Trick Williams was unlike any other, strolling into SmackDown in the early part of 2026, running his mouth, competing in some of the most high-profile matches, and delivering on his promise that he is the future. It’s even more impressive, considering Trick did this in his first four months on the WWE main roster, beating the likes of Jacob Fatu, Rey Fenix, Matt Cardona, Damian Priest, and even his old Trick Melo Gang running mate, Carmelo Hayes.
Suffice it to say, Trick Williams was on an absolute roll. On a roll, in fact, he would antagonize Zayn for months on end, until Sami and Trick’s paths lined up, with Zayn needing to be on the WrestleMania 42 card, which led to him dethroning Melo to become United States Champion.
Coincidentally, SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis wanted to reward Trick with an opportunity at the event, which led to this masterful confrontation at the “Showcase of the Immortals.”

Trick Williams was more than ready for this moment, as “TrickWilly Mania” ran wild after the fact. To Sami Zayn’s credit, he did have Trick Williams for the taking, that is, until Lil Yachty interfered, throwing Sami Zayn off his game. Despite all that, Zayn would recover, after an Exploder Suplex on the corner, Zayn would go for the kill.
Unfortunately for him, Trick Williams had his Lemon Pepper Steppers tonight, going out of the way, and hitting the Trick Shot to claim his first WrestleMania victory, in his first WrestleMania, as well as his first title on the main roster.
“The Anointed One” has done it and whooped Sami Zayn, becoming the #AndNEW United States Champion. Congratulations, Trick Williams!
