WWE SmackDown Results (3/20/26) – LIVE Updates: The Apex Predator Speaks

Randy Orton Speaks

One week removed from his heinous actions against Cody Rhodes, Randy Orton lets his feelings known to the WWE Universe. Orton said he has been grateful for the adoration of the WWE Universe, which puts a smile on his face.

That said, it’s the emptiest he has ever felt, and he wants to be defined not by the high-fives or deeds he did for the fans, but by the number of titles he put around his waist. Orton said Rhodes made it easy for him when the “American Nightmare” said he needed the absolute most vicious version of Orton, because he knew he’d do that.

Randy concluded by saying that the voices in his head counsel him, they understand, and they talk to him, and they’re saying that he’ll beat Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 42 and become a 15-time world champion.

Backstage:

  • Matt Cardona confronted Orton, saying he did not like what Orton said, considering the friendship between him and Cody. Randy went haywire and struck Cardona to the floor.

Aleister Black vs. Sami Zayn

After playing mind games with Zayn for a number of weeks now, Aleister Black steps into the ring to meet him in a one-on-one battle. Zayn looked like he was half-heartedly fighting Black, despite the bout being even throughout.

The distraction seems like it’s because of what Zayn endured over the last few weeks, not to mention the presence of Trick Williams at ringside. Sami would enter a new phase, letting his inner-killer out. With that, Zayn was on the verge of winning, until he turned his attention to Trick, who threw a drink right at him.

Zayn would beat down Trick and even hesitated to get back into the ring, looking to cause more damage. That time, thinking would ultimately lead to Zayn not seeing the kill shot, allowing Aleister to hit the Black Mass for the win.

Backstage:

  • We see Matt Cardona demanding a match against Orton tonight after what he did to him, but Nick Aldis said he’ll get his pound of flesh, but not tonight.
  • Carmelo Hayes would ask Nick Aldis why the U.S. Open Challenge was closed tonight, and Aldis said someone made a compelling case to be next up in line, as Ilja Dragunov made it clear it was him. Both agreed that there can only be one, with Hayes remarking that one will have champagne, while the other will have only pain.
