Elimination Chamber 2014 (Minneapolis, Minnesota)
The 2014 Elimination Chamber match saw “The Viper” put his WWE World Heavyweight Championship on the line against a daunting field of elite opponents that included John Cena, Daniel Bryan, Cesaro, Sheamus, and Christian. Orton entered as the match’s biggest target, as he occupied the role of “Face of the Company” under The Authority.
This match was defined by interruptions, which ultimately paved the way for Orton’s first and only Elimination Chamber victory. Orton secured two eliminations during the contest; the first came after The Wyatt Family interfered to attack Cena as he had Orton trapped in an STF, allowing Orton to secure the pin.
The second interruption came from Director of Operations Kane, who interfered by pulling the referee out of the ring and later attacking Bryan. This allowed Orton to strike with a vintage RKO, securing the victory.
Despite Orton’s “cowardly” tactics, where he retreated to his pod and tried to lock it to avoid the fight, the match was a masterclass in heel psychology as he “stole” the victory from the crowd-favorite, Bryan. This high-stakes, successful title defense kept the fans on their feet from start to finish, cementing its place as number one on this list.

With nine appearances and several eliminations behind him, the story seems to suggest that the Elimination Chamber is Randy Orton’s Kryptonite. However, the highlights of his career tell a deeper story that isn’t just about wins and losses. This year’s match provides Orton an opportunity to prove his doubters wrong, show he can still get the job done inside the steel structure, and secure a title shot against Drew McIntyre at WrestleMania.
