#1: Roman Reigns vs. Sami Zayn – Undisputed WWE Universal Championship (Elimination Chamber 2023)
During the road to WrestleMania 39, there was so much drama in the infamous Bloodline storyline. At the Royal Rumble event prior, Sami Zayn was fed up with Roman Reigns’ emotional, physical abuse, and manipulation, which led to a match between the two.
Reigns and Zayn’s differences brought so much friction within every Bloodline member. Jimmy Uso and Solo Sikoa destroyed Zayn at the Royal Rumble without hesitation. Jey Uso, who had a strong hatred towards Zayn, had a change of heart for him when Zayn chose to align with The Bloodline over his best friend, Kevin Owens. Jey was devastated when Zayn struck Reigns, as he felt his trust was broken.
The match between Reigns and Zayn was the main attraction at the 2023 Elimination Chamber, as it was located in Zayn’s hometown of Montreal, Quebec, Canada. With the fans heavily invested in their hometown hero against WWE’s biggest draw of a champion in years, anything could happen.
With The Bloodline being a strong group, Jimmy Uso got himself involved by trying to cost Zayn, but he failed to do so. When Jey Uso entered the ring, fans were on their feet, not knowing who Jey would align with. Reigns continued his manipulation towards Jey until Zayn was aiming for a spear at Reigns, only to miss and hit Jey instead.
Reigns took the chance to strike a distracted Zayn with a spear to remain champion. Sadly for Zayn, the beatdown on him continued. This led to Kevin Owens coming out to fight off Reigns, Paul Heyman, and Jimmy Uso. Owens then walked off, leaving Zayn standing over everyone in the ring.
