#5: John Cena vs. Kane – Ambulance Match (Elimination Chamber 2012)

In late 2011, John Cena began preparing more for his match with The Rock at WrestleMania 28. During his preparation, he got stuck in an unusual predicament. Standing in his way was “The Big Red Monster”, Kane. Earlier in the year, Kane was feeling less of a monster and more of a human being.

When Kane returned, the WWE Universe expected him to get revenge on the man who put him on the shelf, Mark Henry. Rather, Kane targeted Cena. Kane intended to help Cena embrace the hate he receives from the fans. Kane believed that if Cena were to turn his back on the WWE Universe, he would have a huge chance in defeating The Rock.

With the “Never Give Up” attitude Cena has, he refused to follow Kane’s advice, which built more friction between the two. Every week, Kane did everything he could to get Cena to embrace this certain hate. Whether it was attacking Cena’s friend Zack Ryder or playing mind games on Cena, things still weren’t going according to Kane’s plans. The rivalry culminated in an Ambulance Match.

In this match, fans didn’t seem thrilled at the time since it was obvious that Cena was building momentum before facing The Rock at WrestleMania. With the predictable outcome, there was a decent brawl between Cena and Kane. The spot of the match was Cena hitting the “Attitude Adjustment” on Kane through the top of the ambulance truck. Cena secured the win, thus ending what fans considered a “filler” rivalry.
