NJPW: 5 Rumored Departures and Predictions for their Next Promotion

David Finlay

The name Finlay will be more than familiar to Ruthless Aggression era wrestling fans. Fit Finlay and his jaw-shattering shillelagh occupy a memorable corner of the 2000s wrestling scene. And the Finlay family name has been carried on by a few of the Irishman’s offshoots.

Brogan Finlay, aka Uriah Connors, is currently plying his trade in NXT. But making serious inroads in NJPW is David Finlay. The arrogant War Dogs commander has shown his penchant for leadership, guiding the likes of Kidd and Moloney through the Japanese wrestling landscape.

Finlay is valued immensely by NJPW; as a Bullet Club/War Dogs leader, he has followed in the footsteps of Finn Balor, AJ Styles, Kenny Omega, and Jay White. With his contract expiring soon, Finlay is expected to explore his options away from NJPW. The War Dogs leader would be a welcome addition at any company. However, it looks like family ties may attract him to WWE.

A move to WWE would not only reunite him with his brother but also with his father, too. Fit Finlay continues to work as a trainer at the WWE Performance Center. There’s his War Dogs family to consider as well. If the likes of Kidd, Moloney, and Connors preferred a move to WWE, it’s possible that Finlay would join them. And with AJ Styles possibly set to retire this weekend, it could be one Bullet Club leader out, and another one in.
