WWE NXT Battleground Results & Highlights
Sol Ruca (c) vs. Kelani Jordan [NXT Women’s North American Championship]
Sol Ruca and Kelani Jordan’s clash for the NXT Women’s North American Championship kicks off the festivities. Both never lacking in athleticism, this is quite an exciting match from the get-go. The Tampa crowd was not shy to show their appreciation, and was clearly still riding the high from the most recent Saturday Night’s Main Event.
Zaria moved Ruca out of harm’s way at some point, leading to her removal from ringside by the referee. Despite this, Ruca managed to pick up the victory with a picture-esque Sol Snatcher.
BEST SOL SNATCHER EVER?!?

Mike Santana Backstage Interview
TNA’s Mike Santana is backstage for an interview. He lets it be known that he wants to be next for whoever wins the TNA World Championship – Joe Hendry or Trick Williams. No Quarter Catch Crew interrupts him but, unlike Charlie Dempsey who wanted all the smoke, Tavion Heights looks to have a match with Santana on the May 27 NXT.
.@Santana_Proud is here to keep a close eye on the @ThisIsTNA Championship Match!
But also got a nice little introduction to No Quarter Catch Crew… 👀#WWEBattleground pic.twitter.com/W1di6V7mAd

Hank Walker, Tank Ledger & Josh Briggs vs. The Culling
This was a hard-hitting affair from the start, with bodies flying from both sides. With the referee’s attention diverted, Izzi Dame got involved, but it was not enough for The Culling to pull it off. The team of Josh Briggs, Hank Walker & Tank Ledger proved to be a good one, as they managed to pick up the victory.
The Culling tried to ambush their adversaries but, just as Dame was grabbing a steel chair from the timekeeper’s area, Yoshiki Inamura made his return. With Inamura, The Culling had no option but to be sent running.

Ethan Page Backstage Interview
Ethan Page has a backstage interview, and he uses his time to address NXT North American Champion Ricky Saints. As he is going on, NXT General Manager Ava comes to confirm that the two will kick off the May 27 show. Beyond that, whoever wins will defend the title at Worlds Collide on June 7.
.@OfficialEGO has a A LOT to say about @starkmanjones…
But @avawwe_ has announced that the winner of Tuesday's North American Title Match will defend the championship at #WorldsCollide in Los Angeles! 😱#WWENXT pic.twitter.com/M5VwUV1scz

Tony D’Angelo vs. Channing ‘Stacks’ Lorenzo
The beef between Tony D’Angelo and Channing ‘Stacks’ Lorenzo is a bitter and emotional one, and that showed in this match. The two punished each other as much as they could, then Luca Crusifino appeared and inadvertently caused a distraction. With a low blow, Lorenzo picked up the win. Afterward, Crusifino entered the ring and attempted to hug D’Angelo, but that was rejected.

Stephanie Vaquer (c) vs. Jordynne Grace [NXT Women’s Championship]
Stephanie Vaquer and Jordynne Grace shake hands before getting into what starts off as a technical masterclass. Eventually, both Vaquer and Grace were doing all they could to pull off the win. Grace proved why she is the former TNA Knockouts Champion, but it was not yet time for her to claim NXT gold.
For Vaquer, this match was particularly important, as she wanted to solidify herself as the standard for women’s wrestling. AAA’s women have a challenge to that, and they were ringside for this bout. May 27 could provide a new challenger for Vaquer.
All eyes on the champ. 👀
It never stops for @Steph_Vaquer.. . #WWEBattleground pic.twitter.com/KkSt5PdAZZ

Ricky Saints In-Ring Interview
NXT North American Champion Ricky Saints took to the ring for an interview, and he also had a message for Page. As he was then addressing the possibility of facing an AAA roster member, Page tried to ambush him. Starks managed to get the best of the exchange though.
Why wait for Tuesday?!?

Oba Femi (c) vs. Myles Borne [NXT Championship]
Challenging Oba Femi is always an uphill battle for anyone, and the same goes for Myles Borne. An unlikely contender, Borne had this one shot to prove himself, and he had some standout moments. Femi found himself surprised at times, and it even looked like his reign was under threat a few times.
Borne showed incredible resilience, but Femi once again showed why he is ‘The Ruler’ with brute force. Considering that this was their second match in NXT, perhaps another chapter could be added to their story at a later stage.
Respect EARNED. 👀@mylesborne_wwe #WWENXT pic.twitter.com/ax2GPzLiRY

Heated Backstage Confrontations
Stephanie Vaquer is backstage and in a heated confrontation with AAA’s Calys and Chik Tormenta. As Ava tries to get involved and break it up, Jacy Jayne appears to deliver a hot slap to Vaquer. This descends into full-on chaos.

Joe Hendry (c) vs. Trick Williams [TNA World Championship]
This was set up as the main event of Battleground, and for good reason. Before Joe Hendry and Trick Williams even began their match, the crowd was already lively. When they finally clashed, it was clear that there was no love lost between them.
Both Hendry and Williams had notable moments, and it seemed like Hendry was going to once again prevail. But Williams brought the TNA World Championship into the ring before being stopped by the referee. Despite that, the title ultimately played a role in the finish as Hendry was planted right onto it and was out for the 1-2-3.
Trick Williams is the new TNA World Champion.
OH. MY. GOD.
