Former World Champion Returns to Raw for First Time in Over Three Months

The Celtic Warrior is back as the former world champion returned for the first time in over three months on this week’s Raw.

Not seen since the Royal Rumble in February, Sheamus made a surprise return on this week’s Monday Night Raw as the mystery opponent of Austin Theory. Theory was granted the match after Grayson Waller confronted Adam Pearce backstage about his request for a singles match. Waller told Pearce he wouldn’t have asked for the match if he knew it was going to be against ‘him.’ Pearce was content to hold Waller to his request until Theory came along. Waller told Theory he was being selfish when he asked for a singles match and to make it up to his partner, he was giving him the match tonight. Theory was excited and Pearce changed the match. That’s when Theory asked who he’d be wrestling to which Waller told him it was best to make it a surprise.

And surprise it was as Sheamus’ music hit and Theory turned around to look at his partner who had essentially set him up. The former world champion dominated much of the match with Theory, though the young star did manage to get some offense in, even getting a nearfall toward the end of the match. However, it was always Sheamus’ bout to lose as the Celtic Warrior got in all of his greatest hits. As the match neared its end, the former world champ got Theory up for the White Noise but instead of the cover, the took in the crowd’s support as Theory questioned why Waller would do this to him. 14 beats and one Brogue later, and it was over as Sheamus took home the win.

Meanwhile, there seems to be continued trouble in paradise for A-Town Down Under.
