The Road to WrestleMania is underway and on the February 10th edition of Monday Night Raw, the show of shows received its first official match as Jey Uso chose Gunther to face for the world championship at WrestleMania 41.
Uso opened up Raw, yeeting to a raucous crowd and once again enjoying his hero’s welcome that has become commonplace. But as Uso and the crowd were in the middle of their Yeet encore, Gunther attacked from behind, brutalizing the Royal Rumble winner. It took security to pull the two apart but not before Gunther got his shots in, both physically and verbally. The world champ told Uso, “don’t do it,” alluding to a promise he made last week to make the life of Jey Uso a living hell if he chose to face him at WrestleMania. Well, it appeared Gunther didn’t want to wait for that choice as he tried to beat submission into Uso,
But Uso is nothing if not a fighter. That’s been the mantra of his entire singles run to this point. He doesn’t give up, he doesn’t back down, and he doesn’t let anyone else tell him what he is or isn’t capable of. Uso laid on the mat, taking more verbal barbs from Gunther who made it known he wasn’t on his level, he wasn’t ready for this, and grabbed a mic. With a few simple words, Jey Uso had made his choice, telling Gunther “me and you at WrestleMania.”
