After weeks of anticipation and details trickling out, WWE and 2K Games have put out a press release announcing some key details surrounding WWE 2K25 including two special versions, WWE 2K25 Bloodline Edition and WWE 2K25 Deadman Edition, information on the standard version and DLC packs, and a release date that is sure to have fans hitting the pre-order button now. WWE 2K25 is set to have over 300 superstars on the roster along with new match types including Bloodline Rules, and a brand-new mode, The Island.
Let’s dive into what was announced on Tuesday about the game’s release.
When is WWE 2K25 being released? Starting Tuesday, January 28, you can pre-order WWE 2K25, which will release on March 14. However, fans who purchase one of the two special editions, WWE 2K25 Bloodline Edition and WWE 2K25 Deadman Edition, will receive access to the game a week earlier on March 7.
How much will WWE 2K25 cost? Prices for WWE 2K25 range from $70 to $120. The standard version retails at $70, with WWE 2K25 Deadman Edition costing $100 and WWE 2K25 Bloodline Edition costing $120. Each of the special editions comes with special features, which help define the price points.
Where can I play WWE 2K25? WWE 2K25 and its special editions will be available on all gaming consoles (PS5, PS4, PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S).
What are the available game modes? Returning game modes include Showcase, MyGM, MyFACTION, MyRISE, and Universe, all with new or expanded features including the debut of intergender wrestling. The Island marks a new game mode, allowing players a chance to earn a contract by impressing Roman Reigns. More on each game mode below.
WWE 2K25 Bloodline Edition, Deadman Edition, Announced Along with Standard Version
Monday Night Raw saw the reveal of a stunning cover and a behind-the-scenes look at how that cover came to be, featuring Roman Reigns and as Drew McIntyre pointed out, his Wiseman Paul Heyman. Following the banner drop on Raw, WWE revealed the first-look trailer on Youtube, which can watched in full above.
WWE 2K25 will feature three distinct versions.
The Standard Edition
The standard edition is the one most fans will be familiar with. It features Roman Reigns on the cover and will be playable starting March 14. Pre-orders for the standard edition come with a bonus DLC pack of the Wyatt Sicks allowing fans access to playable characters of Uncle Howdy, Dexter Lumis, Nikki Cross, Joe Gacy, and Erick Rowan. Those who pre-order for Ps5 or Xbox Series X/S will also receive cosmetic items for Cross and Howdy to be used in The Island, the brand-new gameplay mode. But what exactly is The Island?
According to 2K, the Island, an “interactive world made up of a series of areas built around different WWE themes,” will offer players a chance to earn a WWE contract if they can do one thing: impress their tribal chief. The Island will offer players a chance to compete quests, take on challenges, and compete in live events. All of this will grant the player unlockables so they can upgrade and customize their MYSUPERSTARS through various storyline chapters. The Island, which provides online and offline game play, offers players a chance to “Rule Beyond the Ring,” but it is only available on Ps5 and Xbox Series X/S.
In addition to the Island, WWE 2K25 will also see the debut of intergender wrestling, something that had been teased over the past few weeks. Through this mode, wrestlers across the men and women’s divisions along with player-created wrestlers, will be able to compete head-to-head. This provides for thousands of additional matchups across all game modes.
WWE 2K will also see returning modes including:
- 2K Showcase: Hosted by Heyman, The Bloodline’s Dynasty celebrates the iconic legacy and historic dominance of the Anoa’i extended family, which features legends like The Rock, Roman Reigns, Yokozuna, and more. Through this mode, fans have the choice to relive historic showdowns involving the storied family or they can “flip the script” by changing select match outcomes creating “What If?” scenarios. There will be dream matches between members of the Bloodline along with other superstars and legends, allowing fans the chance to fantasy book memorable matches and create new feuds along the timeline.
- MyGM Online Multiplayer: In MyGM mode, fans can attempt to become their own Wiseman so to speak, now with an online multiplayer function. In MyGM, players will draft a roster of superstars and legends in order to build the best weekly show possible. They’ll compete for several weeks, this time with an even bigger selection of available general managers and cross-branded live events.
- MyFACTION: Returning with new features, MyFACTION, WWE 2K’s collectible, card-battle mode offers an enhanced Faction Wars, with over 50 new stages. Proving Grounds is replaced by World Tour, giving players the chance to travel in a more non-linear approach with additional match types for live events and online matches. There is also enhanced replayability. As always, new themed card packs and content refreshes will be available throughout the year.
- MyRISE: MyRise returns enabling players the chance to guide their own created superstar in a storyline featuring a main roster NXT invasion with superstars including Bayley and Kevin Owens. In 2K25, MyRISE offers new choices that can lead to specific storylines along with new brawl environments and unlockable characters, arenas, objects and more. There are also opportunities for new ally storylines involving Jey Uso, Seth Rollins, Bianca Belair, and more.
- Universe: Universe mode includes new upgrades and the long-awaited return of promos, featuring new promo types and outcomes with a series of branching choices that will impact the experience.
- Creation Suite: Last but not least, the creation suite, one of the top features of WWE 2K games, is back and better than ever. Noted by 2K as the “best-in-class, most detailed, and most robust,” this mode drives self-expression allowing players to create everything from their own superstar, GM, move set, arena, entrance, championship, crowd signs, and even referees.
WWE 2K25 Deadman Edition
