Predictions and Preview: AEW Full Gear (11/18/23)

AEW Full Gear 2023 Preview: MJF vs Jay White Graphic

AEW Full Gear has finally arrived, and as usual, this promises to be a spectacular show from top to bottom! Ricky Starks and Big Bill defend the AEW World Tag Team Championship in a four-way tag team match against La Faccion Ingobernables’ Rush and Dralistico, FTR, and Kings of the Black Throne. Kris Statlander also has the odds stacked against her as she looks to hold onto the TBS Championship in a triple-threat match with Julia Hart and Skye Blue. In tag team action, The Young Bucks look to defend their number one contender spot against “The Golden Jets” Kenny Omega and Chris Jericho.

Orange Cassidy and Jon Moxley will go to war again for the AEW International Championship. In the first of his two matches for the evening, AEW World Champion and ROH World Tag Team Champion MJF looks to defend those titles, but one question remains…who will be the champion’s partner? All of this action and more in our featured bouts for the evening!

AEW Full Gear 2023 Full Card:

  • ROH World Tag Team Championship: MJF (c) and Mystery Partner vs. The Gunns
  • Sting, Darby Allin, and Adam Copeland vs. Christian Cage, Nick Wayne, and Luchasaurus
  • AEW TBS Championship Match: Kris Statlander (c) vs. Julia Hart vs. Skye Blue
  • AEW International Championship: Orange Cassidy (c) vs. Jon Moxley
  • AEW Women’s World Championship: Hikaru Shida (c) vs. “Timeless” Toni Storm
  • AEW World Tag Team Championship: Ricky Starks and Big Bill vs. FTR vs. La Faccion Ingobernable vs. The Kings of the Black Throne
  • Texas Death Match: “Hangman” Adam Page vs. Swerve Strickland
  • AEW World Heavyweight Championship: MJF (c) vs. Jay White

AEW Full Gear 2023 Predictions:

Will Hikaru Shida continue her dominant run..or will a new “Timeless” Era begin?

“Timeless” Toni Storm might have more fan support than anyone else on the roster. Between her over-the-top antics and quotable promos, few others can hold a candle to her momentum. However, she is running into one of the most dominant champions in AEW history in Hikaru Shida. Shida is the only three-time AEW Women’s World Champion, holds the record for longest reign with the title, and looks to be at the top of her game.

Toni has one thing on the champion, though a strong supporting cast. While Luther at ringside would be enough of an x-factor, I’m mainly referring to a recently debuted star. Mariah May will factor into Saturday’s Championship match. The only question is if she will help Toni win or unintentionally cost her the belt. I’m going to guess the former, as Storm has all the momentum, and that should be used to help elevate May and the women’s division as a whole.

Prediction: Toni Storm wins with some outside assistance

Will Hangman gain retribution for Swerve’s invasion…and steal Prince Nana’s weed?

“Hangman” Adam Page and Swerve Strickland look to end their blood feud in a Texas Death match. What started as Swerve wanting Hangman’s spot has grown so much more personal. Swerve escalated things by invading Hangman’s house, specifically the room of Hangman’s son.

Now I know what you’re thinking: shouldn’t Hangman be the real villain for leaving his son unattended? If not for what Swerve did to Nick Wayne, I would agree, but we all know the depths to which Swerve is willing to go. If not for this home invasion, I would pick Swerve to win. Between that and Hangman’s fantastic promo from this week’s Dynamite, he needs to finally score a win over Swerve. However, if Swerve does win and takes out Hangman…this could be Swerve’s second contribution to Christian Cage’s adopted sons.

Prediction: Hangman wins and steals Prince Nana’s weed

Whose behind the mask: Adam Cole, CM Punk, Roderick Strong…or “The Devil” himself?

Since Jay White officially became “All Elite,” this was the match-up many fans were waiting to see. While the match will be spectacular, it is currently second to one big question. Who is the Devil? For those of you out of the loop, we are not talking about the biblical devil Lucifer or even our scumbag MJF. Someone seems to have taken MJF’s mask and has been a thorn in the side of the champion and his challenger.

Since the first assault on Jay White, the question began to burn in the back of the AEW faithful’s minds. That fire had a tank of gasoline poured onto it with the assault orchestrated on The Acclaimed, the only people who were seemingly helping MJF. I do believe that MJF will retain the championship against Jay White. While White is entertaining and worthy of a title run, this is not the time. Whoever is behind the mask wants to hurt MJF..and they will not be satisfied with anyone else taking it from Max but them.

If it is somehow MJF orchestrating all of this, it would be pointless to have done all of this and not have him retain it. The mystery of who is behind the mask has created so much anticipation I look forward to the reveal!

Prediction: MJF retains, and Adam Cole is the man behind the mask!
