Becky Lynch Plays Cyndi Lauper in Young Rock

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has shared a first-look image of Becky Lynch as Cyndi Lauper in Young Rock. Lynch will make her acting debut when the 3rd season of Young Rock airs on NBC on Friday, November 4. The Rock announced on his Instagram account that Lynch would be taking on the “daunting and fun” task of playing “the icon” Cyndi Lauper.

A high level of commitment

“I was right there for Becky’s audition and we were all very impressed at her high-level commitment as an actor to become Cyndi Lauper, ” he wrote.  “No easy task, but she worked her butt off and went all in – and crushed it,” he added. 

The opening episode of the season takes place around the time of WrestleMania 1 in 1985. We will see Becky Lynch as Cyndi Lauper in this episode. Lynch will play Lauper as she hosts a party around that period in time.

Lauper in WWE 

Lauper made multiple appearances in the WWE during the ‘Rock N Wrestling Connection’. She was a regular guest on Roddy Piper’s Piper’s Pit alongside Wendi Richter who she managed. 

Lauper was an integral part of the inaugural WrestleMania and helped bring mainstream attention to the event. Additionally, Lauper appeared in her manager role at WrestleMania as Richter won the WWF Women’s Championship from Leilani Kai

 

Lauper has praised her appearances in WWE for helping boost the popularity of her breakout single, ‘Girls Just Want To Have Fun.’ Her soundtrack for The Goonies’ “Goonies ‘R’ Good Enough” featured appearances from Lou Albano, Roddy Piper, The Iron Sheik, Freddie Blassie, and Nikolai Volkoff.
