Karl Anderson Booked For NJPW And WWE Shows On Same Day

Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson

WWE announced the “Good Brothers’ will take on “The Judgement Day” at WWE Crown Jewel on November 5th, 2022 in Saudi Arabia.

The issue with this is one of the “Good Brothers” Karl Anderson is scheduled to defend his Never Openweight Championship against Hikuleo on the same day in Osaka, Japan. The match is scheduled as part of NJPW Battle Autumn 22.

This leaves us with the interesting situation of Karl Anderson being booked for NJPW and WWE shows on the same day. It is the kind of situation that could easily have been resolved by booking a new match if only Anderson wasn’t currently holding an NJPW Championship.

Good Brothers Return To WWE

Anderson returned to WWE Monday Night Raw a few weeks ago along with fellow “Good Brothers” tag team partner Gallows to even up the feud between AJ Styles and The Judgement Day. It was a surprise return as Anderson had publically claimed he would never return to WWE.

It also marked the first time a superstar had left WWE and made AEW appearances before returning to WWE.

NJPW’s Problem To Solve

A current champion in one company can rarely leave and sign up with another. This obviously is the case with the NEVER Openweight Champion Anderson now being an official member of the WWE roster.

You’d presume NJPW has decided what it will do with getting the championship off Anderson. Hikuleo has publically Tweeted about the situation but NJPW has yet to announce how it plans to solve the problem.

Anderson has only held the NEVER Openweight Championship since June 12 when he defeated Tama Tonga at Dominion 6.12. NJPW putting a championship on Anderson only a few months ago suggests that the company wasn’t privy to Anderson’s plans to return to WWE so soon.
