Preview: WWE Raw (6/6/22) – Hell in a Cell Fallout

Cody Rhodes vs Seth Rollins | WWE Hell in a Cell 2022

WWE Monday Night Raw eminates tonight from Green Bay, Wisconsin’s Resch Center; a curious venue that in WWE’s first visit back in 2002 saw a televised one-on-one encounter between Randy Orton and Brock Lesnar, 11 years before their bloody SummerSlam main event. It was also the same venue that saw The Undertaker confront that very same Lesnar in February of 2014, stabbing his hand with a pen and using the blood to sign a contract. This was for their match at WrestleMania XXX with The Undertaker’s legendary undefeated streak coming to an end. Tonight on WWE Raw, we exit ‘Hell,’ as in, Hell In A Cell and begin the road to Money In The Bank, originally meant to be one of WWE’s eight stadium shows slated for this year. Due to a lack of crowd demand, it’s not slated for Las Vegas’ Thomas & Mack Center, which once housed an excellent Raw Pay-Per-View event in the form of Vengeance 2005.

WWE Raw (6/6/22) – What to Know

Torn Pec And All, He’s 3-0

The main event of Hell In A Cell saw Cody Rhodes go 3-0 against The Architect of WWE, Seth Rollins. The American Nightmare went into the event with a highly publicized torn pectoral muscle, but WWE made it clear that despite the injury, he would wrestle. And so, he and Rollins did. The two put on an impeccable match, as Rollins did everything to make Rhodes shine as well as protect him. Meanwhile, the former All Elite Wrestling EVP, questionably so, went in and gave a gutsy performance.

But now that the big match has passed, what happens with Cody Rhodes? Clearly, he needs time off and perhaps surgery, too. As soon as it felt like Raw was able to fill that big Roman Reigns/Lesnar-shaped gap with Cody Rhodes, now there’s a big Cody-sized gap. Stay tuned to the post Hell in a Cell edition of Raw to learn more.

Bianca Survives The Triple Threat

Bianca Belair defeated Asuka and Becky Lynch at Hell In A  Cell to retain the Raw Women’s Championship, continuing to establish The EST as a top-level talent for the WWE. Defeating the two big-time former champions, once again we are left asking ‘What’s Next?’ for WWE’s EST. Rhea Ripley seems to be a likely candidate. This would be a fresh match-up between the two younger faces fresh off seeing both emerge with victories at the Premium Live Event.

Lashley, Judgment Day And Theory Exit Hell Standing

2 on 1 proved to just give Bobby Lashley a different avenue to defeat Omos when he submitted MVP to seemingly end this feud. Meanwhile, The Judgment Day was able to slay the pseudo-Bullet Club reunion of Finn Balor and AJ Styles with honorary member Liv Morgan, giving us these two entities to look forward to heading into Money In The Bank.

Meanwhile, Theory is fresh off his first defense of the WWE United States title after defeating the local, Mustafa Ali. While Ali suffers defeat, we are left wondering if there will be any follow-up to Tommaso Ciampa’s seemingly random attacks against him. And what would be next for Theory? A title defense against Rey Mysterio, perhaps, or maybe a new opponent? Hopefully, his reign doesn’t also fall into the background like many others, though we are getting pretty close to that point.

In general, tonight’s Raw is a total mystery. But given Money In The Bank is next on the docket, we can expect qualifying matches, a penchant for ladders by the wrestlers, and a slew of segments to remind us of what that powerful briefcase can do: a world title opportunity granted when desired over the next 12 months.
