Stardom World Climax - The Best: Giulia vs Syuri match graphic

World Wonder Ring Stardom constantly seems to improve on its own success, and with the upcoming double-header in Ryogoku Sumo Hall, it will continue to do so as Spring begins. Stardom World Climax – The Best & Stardom World Climax – The Top will make history as the first two-night PPV event in the company’s 11 years in business. Night One will feature a top-heavy card, but one that features four championship matches and the highly anticipated return of KAIRI to the Stardom ring. March 26 could be the start of the biggest weekend in Stardom’s history, so let’s get into the action you should expect on the Saturday show.

Hanan & Rina Fight For the Future

The first match of the weekend sees the Minami sisters battle over the Future of Stardom Championship. Hanan and Rina, two of the four youngest members of the Stardom roster, have been on course for a singles collision for over a year now but have ramped up since Hanan’s Future Championship win. Rina has gotten multiple pinfall victories over Hanan in recent months, using her modified Gory Bomb to win in multiple tag team matches. While Rina is the younger of the two sisters, her growth in the past couple of years is remarkable, and she could very well dethrone her elder sister on Saturday. After winning the championship at the last Ryogoku show in December from Ruaka, Hanan looks to vanquish the former champion’s Oedo Tai comrade and prevent Rina from becoming the youngest Future of Stardom Champion in company history.

Can FWC Survive Oedo Tai’s A-Team?

Since Hazuki’s return, her focus on the tag team division alongside Koguma has paid off greatly as we look forward to their third defense as Goddesses of Stardom Champions. In their way, however, is the incredibly cumbersome duo of Momo Watanabe & Starlight Kid representing Oedo Tai. Koguma and Hazuki, known together as Fukuoka Double Crazy (FWC), have been undefeated as a duo since last October and are incredibly capable and versatile in championship matches. Despite this, the momentum that Starlight Kid & Momo have gained since their tandem began in December has been incredible and is unlikely to stop anytime soon. With the Goddesses of Stardom Titles tending to change hands within a team’s first three defenses, the reigning champions are in real trouble of losing their titles come Stardom World Climax: The Best.

KAIRI Returns… To Get Assessed?

Kairi Sane Wins NXT Women's Championship

In perhaps the biggest news coming out of Stardom in recent memory, KAIRI, formerly known as Kairi Sane & Kairi Hojo, will be making her long-awaited in-ring return on Night One of Stardom World Climax. Reuniting with fellow THREEDOM member Mayu Iwatani, The Captian will meet both Unagi Sayaka and Tam Nakano inside the ring for the very first time. Unagi, a relative newcomer to the world of wrestling, will look to “assess” the skills of the ten-year veteran, something she has attempted to do to nearly every wrestler to show up in Stardom in the past nine months. Funnily enough, this match will be somewhat of an assessment for KAIRI, as she hasn’t wrestled in a year and eight months. It’s possible that we see some ring rust on the former Red Belt Champion, but we may also see a new and improved KAIRI enter Ryogoku Sumo Hall on Saturday.

Tag Team Partners Collide in the Co-Main Events

Both the Wonder of Stardom & World of Stardom Championships will be on the line on both nights of Stardom World Climax, with Night One featuring two former Goddesses of Stardom Championship teams battling for each top title. Starting with the White Belt, Utami Hayashishita will look to usurp her AphroditE teammate and earn one of the only Stardom Championship she is yet to win. Saya Kamitani, on the other hand, is fighting to defeat her tag team partner for the first time in her career. Tall Saya is currently 0-3 against Utami, two of which took place in championship matches; The difference here is that Kamitani is for the first time entering a match against Utami as the reigning champion, putting the momentum firmly in her favor. While in the past Saya has tried and failed to get an underdog victory over Utami, this match could quite possibly consist of Utami proving whether or not she is on Kamitani’s level following her Red Belt loss last December.

Then, in the main event of the evening, the former ALK combination of Syuri and Giulia will face off for the World of Stardom Championship. Unlike the semi-main event, Syuri and Giulia have called this the end of their tandem, with Syuri even announcing her succession from Donna Del Mondo and plans to begin anew with a mystery bodyguard to second her for this match. This pair has battled one-on-one in the past, going to a 30-minute draw at Osaka Dream Cinderella 2020. Since then, the duo ran the tag team division for the majority of 2021 and have found themselves unable to continue their partnership due to the stakes of this match. Syuri is still early into her World of Stardom Championship reign, but Giulia has never been more ready for the Red Belt than she is right now. Can Giulia take the Red Belt and continue DDM’s reign atop the wrestling world, or will Syuri carve her new path with the top championship firmly in her possession?
