Stardom News: Hazuki Returns, Dark Matches, AndNEW & More

Osaka Dream Cinderella News

Stardom live-streamed their August 29 5STAR Grand Prix event and promised a “mega-class” announcement.  The show delivered upon that promise while also crowning a new champion.  It was one of the most eventful Stardom shows in some time so let’s run down everything that happened.

Stardom News Round-Uo (8/29/21) – Osaka Jo-Hall, Hazuki Returns & More

Stardom Dark Matches Will Air On New Japan World

We kicked off the announcements with the confirmation that the Stardom dark matches taking place at Wrestle Grand Slam in the MetLife Dome will be aired live on New Japan World.  This is a massive movement in the crossover between Stardom and NJPW and should put plenty of new eyeballs on the company.  Kevin Kelly and Chris Charlton will provide commentary for the matches.

Hazuki Returns

In one of the most shocking moments in recent Stardom history, Hazuki returned to a Stardom ring.  When Hazuki retired in late 2019 she went out decrying how much she hated Stardom.  Following Hazuki’s return to the ring earlier this year at Matane it seems she got the itch to return to the ring and she made her presence known following Mayu Iwatani‘s match with Lady C.  Hazuki took issue with how “outsiders” have taken over Stardom in her absence under Iwatani’s watch.

Stardom Running Osaka Jo-Hall in October

As part of their 10th Anniversary celebration Stardom will run a huge show in Osaka Jo-Hall on October 9, 2021.  This is the first Joshi show in the venue since 1995!  We will likely see the 5STAR Grand Prix winner challenge Utami Hayashishita or Tam Nakano on this show.

#AndNEW Starlight Kid wins High Speed Championship

After years of trying Starlight Kid has finally captured the High Speed title.  She defeated Natsupoi in a fantastic main event to claim just the second singles championship of her career.  This win is notable as Kid’s recent heel turn was sparked by her desire to surpass what she could do in STARS, winning the title that she chased for so long in STARS on her first attempt with Oedo Tai is sure to make her feel confident in her choice.  Kid should have a defining run with this title as she has all the talent and challengers necessary to have a standout run with the belt that helps elevate her further up the card.
