Preview: WWE SmackDown (3/11/22) – New Day vs Sheamus/Holland

Smackdown New Day Sheamus Ridge Holland

One of the main themes of this week’s Friday Night SmackDown is payback. Arguably the most popular team in the company has found itself in the crosshairs of a brawling duo, which leads us to this week’s show on the blue brand. On this week’s SmackDown, Kofi Kingston and Big E of The New Day battle Sheamus and Ridge Holland. This won’t be all, however, as viewers will see the Women’s Tag Team Championship picture continue to develop as well. Here’s what to expect before the action unfolds on FOX.

Friday Night SmackDown (3/11/22) – Preview

The New Day Battle Sheamus and Ridge Holland on SmackDown

As mentioned earlier, The New Day will take on Sheamus and Ridge Holland in tag team action. Those that have been keeping up with the action on Friday nights will know that Kofi Kingston and Big E’s treasured ATV found itself on the receiving end of sledgehammers. To be more specific, these belonged to Sheamus and Holland, who took their weapons to the vehicle, obliterating it in the process. Given that the ATV was gifted by Kingston for Big E’s birthday, this won’t be a transgression taken lightly. Watch as these two teams collide on Friday Night SmackDown.

A Championship Contender’s Match

A Championship Contender’s Match will also take place, with the Women’s Tag Team Championship being the focal point. Recently, Sasha Banks and Naomi made their intention to capture the Women’s Tag Team Championship clear, targeting the current titleholders in Queen Zelina and Carmella. Banks and Naomi are no strangers to each other as, alongside Tamina, formed the group known as Team B.A.D. some years ago. Now, the two former comrades have reunited, this time with tag team gold in their sights. Before this inevitable showdown takes place, however, Banks and Naomi will have to earn it as they take on Zelina and Carmella. Watch this tag team contest unfold on FOX ahead of their WrestleMania title match.

Other Items to Expect

On last week’s edition of SmackDown, Ricochet captured the Intercontinental Championship from Sami Zayn. This wasn’t an entirely clean victory, however, as Zayn found himself distracted by his newfound rival, Jackass star Johnny Knoxville. One would be safe to assume that Ricochet will be on this week’s show, especially as WrestleMania draws closer and closer. Viewers may also see the continued development of Zayn and Knoxville given their own impending WrestleMania encounter.

Other matters to consider, but have not been officially listed for this week’s SmackDown, involve major championships. To be more specific, while Ronda Rousey is on a collision course with SmackDown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair heading into WrestleMania, Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns have their own Winner Takes All encounter during the same star-studded event. Expect to hear more about these encounters on SmackDown.
