Report: Adam Cole Contract Set to Expire

Adam Cole NXT Champion

Overnight some shocking information was reported by Raj Giri of WrestlingInc. Giri’s report stated that NXT Superstar Adam Cole is set to become a free agent this month, not only that but Cole’s deal with WWE originally expired after the Great American Bash special but that Cole had agreed to a short extension which ends after SummerSlam.  Here’s everything we currently know about the Adam Cole contract expiry saga.

Adam Cole Contract Expiry: Cole’s Deal Originally Ended After Great American Bash

Most people believed that Adam Cole was signed to WWE until 2024, with NXT talent seemingly signing new deals following the brand’s move to the USA Network.  But, that belief was false as Cole’s deal expired recently.  The obvious speculation has been that Adam Cole will join All Elite Wrestling (AEW) given his past friendship with The Elite, not to mention his partner Britt Baker is the AEW Women’s World Champion.

Adam Cole to AEW isn’t a cut and dry situation, Cole seems happy in NXT as one of their top acts and gets to play video games in his spare time as part of UpUpDownDown.  Whether the pull of AEW is enough to entice him away from a job he’s happy at remains to be seen.  The recent release of Bray Wyatt may push someone like Cole out the door though, because if a top merch seller like Wyatt isn’t safe from “budget cuts” then nobody is, and job security was always seen as a massive bonus to joining WWE.
