5 Huge Reasons to Watch WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event in MSG

For just the second time in World Wrestling Entertainment history, WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event will take place in Madison Square Garden. For decades, MSG has been considered WWE’s backyard, and they have tried to bring the action when they step inside. This Saturday, WWE returns to Madison Square Garden, and the world waits to see what will happen.

This Saturday, MSG is going to be home to perhaps the best Saturday Night’s Main Event of this new era. Previous shows have been inconsistent, but with the advertised card, WWE has stacked the deck. The entertainment and wrestling quality factors are going to make this a Saturday Night’s Main Event for the ages. Everyone in the wrestling world should be watching this Saturday, and here are the biggest reasons why.

A Hopeful Title Change

Paige returning at WrestleMania 42 and helping Brie Bella capture the Women’s Tag Team Championships was an historic moment. It got a great pop from the crowd, with the world loving that Paige had returned to the company that made her famous. Unfortunately, since then, the tag champs haven’t been booked very well.

Brie Bella and Paige haven’t been given much to work with, and their matches have been booked with screwy finishes that have failed to make the tag champs look legit. It’s safe to say that the experiment that Women’s Tag Champs have run has run its course, and it’s time for some fresh talent to hold the titles.

Fatal Influence have been fantastic since their debut. Jacy Jane, Fallon Henley, and Lainey Reid are the perfect heel faction for SmackDown. They have been getting great heat and have stood toe-to-toe with the best babyfaces on the blue brand.

What the group needs now is some gold to parade around the ring, and Madison Square Garden is the best place for this coronation. Saturday Night’s Main Event will be the starting point for Fatal Influence’s rise to the top.

What Will Happen In The Colossal Tag Team Match?

The moving parts that are included in the tag team match this Saturday represent what’s great about WWE’s booking. The issues between Gunther, Sami Zayn, Cody Rhodes, and CM Punk go back years, and WWE has done an expert job of weaving these stories together as they head towards Saturday Night’s Main Event.

It doesn’t matter which pairings the four men were matched up in; there is zero chance that they are going to coexist in the Garden.

This match is going to devolve into chaos not long after the opening bell rings. The “can they, can’t they get along” angle has been overdone, but when the stories are this compelling, it works. The WWE audience can’t wait to see how this match is going to play out.

Naturally, tension between Punk and Rhodes will be teased, but how will Sami Zayn fit in? Will Nick Aldis show up and further his issues with Gunther? Many questions will be answered when this tag team match begins.

Madison Square Gardhausen!

Despite an auspicious debut, Danhausen has been a force of nature since his debut. His comedy segments have become the best part of whatever show they are on, injecting much-needed levity into WWE programming. Danhausen’s timing has been spot on, and he has elevated those around him. Matt Cardona, Kit Wilson, and The Miz have been excellent in their supporting roles, and now Judgment Day has worked its way into the picture.

J.D. McDonagh is the first member of the faction to face Danhausen, and it’s assured that hilarity will ensue. Not only that, but both of these men are incredibly talented wrestlers, and while that may not be the focus of the match, it will help to elevate it beyond a comedic interlude. There is going to be some great wrestling in this match, and it could be the most entertaining of the night.

Madison Square Garden Surprises

Madison Square Garden has been the mecca of World Wrestling Entertainment for over 40 years. It is well known that WWE brings out the big guns when they step inside the Garden, producing amazing shows and creating truly memorable moments. The list of returns at Madison Square Garden is endless, and now that WWE is headed back to MSG, anticipation is high that there could be some more surprises in store for the WWE audience.

Given that Fanatics Fest is also running in NYC this weekend, the table is set for WWE to bring some legends back. Whether it be a returning wrestler or a legend making an appearance, the sky is the limit for what surprises could be in store at Saturday Night’s Main Event. Jalen Brunson has already been announced to be showing up at Madison Square Garden. Who else will surprise us all by making an appearance?

Mentor/Mentee Go To War

Bayley and Lyra Valkyria are going to fly under many a radar, but they shouldn’t when one looks at the quality that this match will bring to the table.  It has been a great journey towards this contest, with Valkyria turning on her mentor to step out on her own. The unhinged character that we have seen emerge from Lyra Valkyria has been played very well, and the justification is there, giving her character even more development.

This match is going to be fantastic, and hopefully WWE gives these two women the time to create some magic. Both are fantastic wrestlers and have a history of delivering great matches when WWE needs them to.

The wrestling should be better than most on the card, but the personal nature of this rivalry means some intense moments are bound to happen. Bayley and Lyra Valkyria have the chance to take the spotlight away from matches that have received a greater deal of attention. The world will be watching, and Saturday Night’s Main Event is their chance.

About Daniel Sinasac

Dan has been a fan of wrestling since his grandmother sat him down to watch JYD and Sgt. Slaughter go to battle. That began a decades-long obsession with professional wrestling. An obsession that has developed into a love/hate relationship with the greatest entertainment medium in the world.
