Preview: Paris is Bumping – Solid Gold ’21 (7/10/21)

Paris is Bumping Solid Gold '21

When it comes to professional wrestling, it can feel as if there is a lot of it out there, which isn’t bad, but a show such as Paris is Bumping – Solid Gold ’21 can manage to stand out amidst it all. Along with the wrestling comes a mix of unique match stipulations, fashion, Washington Heights, and Promise Juicy Couture. No wrestling show has ever been quite like this before and perhaps no wrestling show ever will be again.

As a parent who usually takes their nine-year-old son with him to see live professional wrestling, this was one show where I had to make the decision for Quentin not to come along. One of the factors behind that is a Felicia Rose Live Cam Show. While Quentin has met Felicia Rose in the past, and will certainly miss seeing her, that is an aspect of this show which I am not even sure about as an adult but look forward to it nonetheless.

Paris is Bumping Solid Gold ’21 – To Begin

With stipulations in place and pro wrestling galore my eyes immediately are caught by a match that simply asks the question: Boxers or Briefs? This match reminds me of an old WWE match where they stripped each other of a tuxedo; this one seems much more appealing based upon the talent involved. My problem with this match is that if you want MV Young to win, that means you don’t get to see MV Young stripped down to boxers or briefs, and that feels more like losing.

For a more straightforward tag team match, though, we have The Kings of the District taking on Higher Society. While Jordan Blade and Eel O’Neal have seemingly been the heels in other promotions (Most recently, a Women’s Wrestling Revolution Plus show against the Scrunchie Pals comes to mind), it’s going to be impossible for them to not get cheered here as The Highers are just so easy to boo. Still, this will be an athletic match because as much as everyone on this show has something to offer in the way of style and sex appeal they are all also just dangerously capable of getting it done between the ropes.

Competitors to Know Heading Into Solid Gold ’21

One of my biggest selling points on this show is also that the performers I want to see, I really want to see them. Names I’ve seen before include MV Young, Karen Bam Bam, Kings of the District, Erica Leigh, and Molly McCoy, who I want to see live again. Others who I haven’t seen live before such as Ashton Starr, PB Smooth, and Jared Evans make me want to see them wrestle live as well. This is just a star-studded show. To use Eddy McQueen as an example, it just feels as if Paris is Bumping went out and got the absolute best for every facet of this show.

An intriguing three-way dance sees Karen Bam Bam vs Jared Evans vs Sahara. I know little about Sahara and only know slightly more about Jared Evans because that is a name I have seen around a bit and recognize from the Polyam Cult Parties. Karen Bam Bam has been featured in high-profile matches recently such as at Black Girl Magik and is also the current Test Of Strength Champion. Karen Bam Bam, simply put, is the star that professional wrestling has been waiting for and this match will help to further showcase that.

The Solid Gold ’21 Main Event

Originally, this show was to feature the main event of Edith Surreal vs Mariah Moreno for the Grand Prize Championship. However, Edith Surreal is unable to wrestle still. This has turned a three-on-three match into four-on-four where The House of No Bullsh*t (Billy Dixon, Ashton Starr, and Erica Leigh) will be joined by Mariah Moreno to take on Darius Carter, Killian McMurphy, Molly McCoy, and a mystery partner. The stipulation now couldn’t possibly be higher because based on which team wins. We’re going to either see Darius Carter (boo) become the Grand Prize Champion or Mariah Moreno (yay).

Though I will absolutely miss seeing Edith Surreal in the ring, I also love a good mystery. My instincts right away tell me that this mystery fourth person could be either Boomer Hatfield (putting together The Outfielders) or Willow Nightingale simply because when Edith Surreal was no longer in the main event of a WWR+ show against Trish Adora, Nightingale stepped in. I feel like this would be the perfect spot for someone like EFFY, though he will be in Texas with Game Changer Wrestling.

Aside from Boomer Hatfield or Willow Nightingale, my possible picks for surprise entrants are shortlisted. I would love to see someone such as Bonesaw Brooks step up here, but then there is also the idea of fighting alongside Darius Carter, which makes me feel less and less like anyone would take this mission. Harlow O’Hara and Megan Mason are two names I will also put into the universe, though I am not completely certain who this fourth competitor will be. However, I am very much looking forward to finding out.

Paris is Bumping Solid Gold ’21 – In Closing

There is so much pure talent on this show. Under different circumstances, this could be a roster for Pro Wrestling Magic, Camp Leapfrog, or WWR+. The way that they all come together on this show to create something original is unlike anything you have ever seen before and, possibly, will ever see again in wrestling. If you can find a way to get to Ridgefield Park, New Jersey on Saturday, I strongly suggest that you do. Otherwise, Solid Gold ’21 replay you must stream when it becomes available.

Paris is Bumping “Solid Gold ’21” takes place on Saturday, July 10, 2001 from the Knights of Columbus in Ridgefield Park, New Jersey.  For more information: https://twitter.com/ParisIsBumping
