#AndNEW: Isaiah “Swerve” Scott Wins NXT North American Championship

Isaiah Swerve Scott NXT North American Champion

In the main event, NXT North American Champion Bronson Reed defended his title against Isaiah “Swerve” Scott, the leading man of Hit Row. Until this point, Reed was the North American titleholder for 48 days, previously winning it from Johnny Gargano on the May 18 episode of NXT. Despite his best efforts, the “Colossal” NXT Superstar was unable to hold onto his title on this week’s show. By the end of said show, it was “Swerve” himself that walked away with his first-ever World Wrestling Entertainment championship.

This isn’t to say that Isaiah “Swerve” Scott and the rest of Hit Row made tonight’s match easy for Bronson Reed. As the match approached its climax, the other members of Hit Row became involved, distracting Reed as he made his way to the top rope for his signature Tsunami splash. However, it was Hit Row’s own Top Dolla and Ashante “Thee” Adonis that would incur the wrath of Reed, being sent over the barricade and onto the floor. This notable distraction gave Scott the opportunity he needed, as he caught Reed with a 450 splash from the top. One pinfall victory later and viewers saw the crowning of a new NXT North American Champion.

As stated earlier, this is the first WWE title Isaiah “Swerve” Scott has won since signing with the company in 2019. He competed in the first NXT Breakout Tournament later that year, losing to Cameron Grimes in the first round. From there, Scott would appear on not only NXT but 205 Live, even competing for the NXT Cruiserweight Championship on multiple occasions. Earlier this year, Scott turned heel following an attack on Leon Ruff. In the months that followed, Scott aligned himself with not only Top Dolla and Adonis but B-FAB as well; together, they formed Hit Row Records.
