Tonight’s edition of MLW FUSION was the last before the show’s brief hiatus; Major League Wrestling’s flagship show will return on July 10. On this season finale episode, Myron Reed challenged Lio Rush for the MLW World Middleweight Championship in the main event. Rush bested Reed for the title earlier this year at MLW’s Kings of Colosseum supercard event. Several months later, on this night, the two would meet in a highly anticipated rematch. This time, however, it was “Injustice’s” own Reed that emerged victorious as the new World Middleweight Champion.

With this victory, Myron Reed is the only two-time MLW World Middleweight Champion in history. The title was first established, by MLW, back in 2018. In July of that year, the inaugural champion would be crowned in the form of current AEW star MJF. From there, the title would be held by only three other individuals. Reed is the only man to have held the title on multiple occasions. His first reign, which kicked off in November of 2019, lasted 424 days, the longest in company history.

Now that MLW FUSION is currently on hiatus, one must wonder who is in title contention. There’s no denying the fact that Rush will be looking to reclaim his gold, having only held it for a few months. However, there are other possible contenders to consider, ranging from TJP to King Mo and beyond. Expect further news regarding the World Middleweight Title scene when MLW FUSION returns this July.
