MLW FUSION Card: The Rematch (5/5/21)

MLW FUSION 5/5/21 Lio Rush Myron Reed

It is once again time for MLW FUSION! Sadly, after this week, MLW will be going on hiatus until July 10th of this year. It’s hard to be sad when they’re going out with a bang! Richard Holliday will be in action, and we will see an exciting matchup between Gringo Loco and Laredo Kid. The main event of the evening is the one to look out for, as Myron Reed looks to recapture the MLW World Middleweight Championship from the man he lost the belt to, Lio Rush. With that out of the way, let’s dive in!

MLW World Middleweight Championship: Lio Rush (c) vs. Myron Reed

Myron Reed had a wave of momentum after MLW’s restart earlier this year. He was on a career high and looked like he would run MLW’s middleweight division for some time to come. That all changed when he faced Lio Rush. While it wasn’t necessarily an upset, it shocked this writer, particularly as Reed had been a flag bearer for MLW since they returned from their hiatus.

Now Rush has all of the momentum in the world as he is not only the MLW World Middleweight Champion but the AAA World Cruiserweight Champion. If Rush’s momentum wasn’t enough to give Reed fans hesitation that he might recapture the belt, his war with Contra Unit should. Contra Unit has been the dominant force in MLW, and there is little doubt they will make their presence felt before MLW goes on hiatus. What better way than by disrupting one of the biggest opportunities of their enemy’s career?

No matter what happens, MLW will surely leave us wanting more and leave us with a massive cliffhanger. If MLW has proven anything since their return, it is their dedication to their ongoing stories, and the fans love them for that.
